Rear view mirror won’t adjust enough

Bought my wife a 2019 last year. Shes 5’3” so seat far forward. The passenger side mirror won’t adjust in enough for her to see well. It gets close then starts clicking and jumping like something is slipping. She has a piece of plastic wedged behind it to hold it in far enough for her to see. Has anyone run across this and if so , what would be the fix?
