Rear View Mirror Wiring Harness

My truck was vandalized a few weeks ago. They smashed in the front passenger door glass and stole some items. At some point they saw the dash camera hanging from a bracket on rear view mirror and decided to tear the entire mirror off the windshield. In the process they ripped the wiring leading to the mirror completely apart. Only a short section of the red wire exists, everything else is so short it does not make it to the existing exit hole from the headliner. So patching is not an option.

The glass repairs to the windshield and door have been made. Toyota is telling me its $1700.00 to replace rear view mirror (homelink version) and the entire headliner must be removed to replace the wiring harness that connects the truck power supply to the mirror.

I am thinking of using an after market homelink mirror which is significantly more inexpensive. However, I cannot seem to find any material on where the other end of that rear view mirror harness plugs in. I was thinking behind the overhead console which is easily removable.

Has anyone had to replace that harness on a 3rd Generation Tundra?

I may pull the console down and just explore if no one has faced this issue previously. IF that is the case I will come back and document the process for future Tundra folks.

 

I think the 3rd Gen Tundras started in 2022.
