    Hi All!

I have a 2014 SR5 4WD. Currently on BFG KO2's (20inch) that were installed a year ago. I've noticed at low speeds I hear a fairly loud skidding noise (as if the tire is dragging) from the outside rear tire when turning into parking spot or generally turning while in a parking lot. This only happens at low speeds (<5mph) and for some reason only on newer blacktop paved lots. I don't get the skidding when sharply turning into my driveway for example, at least that I can hear.

My guess is the rear differential is having trouble with the tire speed for the outside tire on a turn so it's not able to adjust properly. But not sure if it could also be the tires. Anyone else experience this or can think of the cause?

Are you in 2WD or 4WD when this happens?

Try to disable all traction control and see if it does it.

I like this idea, will give it a try today. So, far from the replies I'm guessing this isn't normal.

Shouldn’t be normal on a stock truck. I have an lsd and mine hops a little on sharp slow turns.

Is your rear differential completely stock?

Yes, stock. I do have VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) engaged. No Auto LSD light is illuminated on the dash so I believe that means it's not engaging on the turns.

I remember my old truck making a screeching noise with some tires in hot weather. It was just hot pavement. I had a car that did the same thing as the truck.

I ran the BfGoodrich’s on quite a few different trucks (family included) and I have noticed, as the tire gets older, it makes a very audible squelch sound when turning hard or aggressively. I am not and engineer or tire expert but I always felt BfGoodrich and Goodyear tires stiffened as they age quite a bit faster than many others.

I don’t know if that helps OP but I have experienced similar (assumption here…) sounds. Is any of the rear tires wearing funny?

I totally agree. I used to run BFGs until the rubber on the last set checked. It looked like the rubber was actually coming apart when I looked at the tread. When the tread got to less than 50% the back tires would break loose real easy. They also wore down real fast. I won't take a set of BFGs for free. I don't want that shit on my truck. I don't trust them.

I never had the thread issues that you have had fortunately…but I completely understand your opinion of them. My family and I have came to the same conclusion: once they hit about 20 25kish, the snow but especially rain performance drops significantly. We all prefer different AT’s tires in general…

I would think the tire making noise would be the inside rear tire on sharp turns. I find it unusual to hear it’s the outside tire. Interested to see what comes out of your problem.
