I just bought my 2017 XSP-X 2 weeks ago. It does not have the rear sway bar. Is this something I should get or can I do without? If I do need it should I just get the TRD sway bar?? My truck is a DD, not towing and mostly highway driving. Thanks

It helps with handling. It lessens the roll of the truck when turning and when taking on/off ramps.

On turns and lane changes, increased anti-left/right body roll is commonly preferred over looser independent articulation unless one rock crawls and those are 4x4’ers. It’s a noticeable improvement in ride quality for most people and well worth it for DD pavement Tundras. You actually notice your shoulders rocking less.

There is a rear TRD one where there was none. And there is a thicker/heavier TRD front one, if you want to replace the stock lighter front sway bar too.

I got the trd and noticed some enhanced stability.

I installed the thicker front TRD sway bar and TRD rear sway bar on my Platinum. Haven't driven much since I put them in so I can't tell you how much of a difference they have made.

Thanks for the reply's, now where would be the best place to get it? I have priced around a bit and some Toyota dealer keeps popping up for over $200.

@Roman can help you get one. With a 2WD Tundra it should be a must. Not sure why everybody with 4WD gets them installed as it limits the off road capabilities but if mine was 2WD, this would be one of the first things I would install.

    These are my observations:

I've had my '16 SR5 Crewmax 4x4 since 9700 miles. It now has near 48k on it and I installed the TRD rear sway bar at 46k.

    I mostly do street/highway driving.

I always felt the truck rolled pretty badly when going around corners. I added the rear bar and the truck feels much tighter in the corners now. Not only that but it seems to have tightened up the straight line tracking as well. It was always pulling badly to the highway before with the tires even with alignments. Now it tracks much straighter.

The only negative I've found is it makes the rear ride a tad stiffer. Depending on the road service it can feel a little choppy because you are linking the sides more together. I am hyper sensitive to how a vehicle rides so I avoiding getting the bar for a long time because I didn't want to sacrifice any ride quality but I got sick of the sway. Overall, I say it's worth it.

I installed one and am very happy I did.

TRD exhaust, TRD cai, TRD rear sway bar, TRD shift knob, Sequoia front sway bar, bed extender, bed step, Weathertech floor mats and window vents, spray in bed liner, Morimoto fogs, Access tonneau bed cover.
I have the trd rear sway and the sequoia front sway. Coupled with Michelin Defenders LTX and I love the ride. Big difference. This is my pavement DD. My bilstein 5100’s are in the garage. I would think I’ll be even happier when I get those installed as well. I don’t have the trd suspension.
