Been awhile since my last post lol trying to stay out of doom reading about engine failures. Hoping someone whos swapped out their tailgate spoiler can chime in, but noticed the cap to mine was kinda loose where it bolts down to the tailgate, inside the bed. Went to tighten it down and it felt somewhat snug, but as i tightened it never got any more snug. The rest of the bolts are snug and wont spin at all.

I finally backed out the bolt and found this….

Looks like it was self tapped in lol after moseying around google i think theres supposed to be one of those threaded plastic inserts here. Before you ask, no i didnt over tighten and snap the insert lol i think it just “magically” broke. I did manage to get it a bit more snug by adding an o-ring under the top of the screw but not really sure i like that long term.
Can anyone confirm i am missing that insert?

I have also run into this same issue. I changed my chrome tailgate release latch for a black one and when I went to reattach the tailgate spoiler I also was unable to fully tighten. This was already a year ago. I tightened as much as possible but can’t fully tighten on several. Have often thought about posting on this but didn’t get around to it. If there’s a solution I’d like to be able to get these tightened all the way again.

You could drill out the existing threaded holes and install rivnuts (rivet nuts).
