So I created this problem- I was storing folded towels under the rear seat, which put pressure on the seat in the down position. I took out the towels and realize that this created play in the back seat which is causing constant rattling as the seat now moves.

Anyone else experience this and can it be fixed?

Put the towels back? If that’s not an option I’d inspect the latch or brackets for wear and adjust or replace as needed.

Don't mention the towels and take it in to the dealership.

Great idea but I just had katzskin installed 2 days ago so I am sure they will blame it on that.

I would still try. Installing Katzskins shouldn't make the hinge loose.

I am really happy with the way they turned out. Did factory match as option and was $1300 installed.
For $200 more I could get 3 extras including custom stitching, perforation and piping. Only thing I was sure about was going without perforation (thought it might be too hot and not breath) but I’m in Texas and it hasn’t been noticeable.

Were the towels removed at the time the katskinz were installed? If so, maybe when the covers were installed the seats were removed and something not properly re-installed (i.e. might have nothing to do with the towels)
From what I have seen the seats have to be removed to install the katskinz.

X2 on seats getting removed. I see no other way to do it with out removing the seats especially if using hog ties on the back. Maybe theybjust left them lose? Take it back to them. Or take a socket and a wrench and try to tighten them down. Might save you a trip

Where is it loose? Seat bottom or seat back? If seat bottom, is it the mounting bolts or where it connects to the seat back? If seat back it could be where it connects with the bottom or however its attached behind the seat back. I wouldnt be surprised if there was just a loose bolt somewhere from the Katzkins install. Hope you figure it out.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It’s unrelated to the seats being removed and leather install. I noticed the day before when I took the towels out from under seat getting ready to take truck to shop for install. They aren’t loose- there is play in the flat part of the seat, like it can raise up and down close to an inch even when it’s locked on down position. It’s from the pressure of the towels under the seat. My fault- just checking if anyone has done this or how to repair. The rattle is driving me insane!

Hmm.... I'm not familiar enough with the seats to offer a solution. Hope you get it figured out!

I just checked mine. When they are latched in the down position I can move the front about an inch up and down - but it does not rattle at all, it's more like flex in the seat than movement at the latch or hinge. I see there are little round rubber bumpers that it sits on when closed. Check to see if you have those, or maybe you can replace with something a little thicker. I would think that these would keep it from rattling. This might be the easiest option.
Or, I have the ESP storage boxes and the seat sit tight against that. I did not have a rattle before installing the boxes though, but maybe something like this will solve the rattle issue, and give you storage.

I have this exact issue on my drivers side rear seat in my 18’ CM. I haven’t been able to figure it out either...
