Any advice or thoughts are appreciated

    Check out the pics
I just performed 1st rear diff fluid swap
Found metal chunks on the magnet
Looks like a rivet to me
Fluid seemed pretty good for 93k miles & did not smell horrible surprisingly
5.5 qt out & 5.5 qt back in

Does any one know the exact torque specs for fill & drain bolts?
I set them to 40 both

Also the valve line flex fill fluid containers make it so easy & fast to refill the pumpkin....no more pumping the pumpkin for me...20240414_124228.jpg 20240414_123410.jpg 20240414_123413.jpg 20240414_124221.jpg 20240414_131304.jpg

I have a feeling my finding will urge many gen3 owners to perform a rear diff fluid swap to see if they find any metal chunks on the magnet....wondering wtf is coming apart in my diff????

Should be done at 30k, 60k and then 90k

It is likely pretty normal to see that much debris if it was first done at 93k.

In my manual it states to only check the fluid at 30,60, & 90k miles....it states to change if towing, which I dont

The good news is that nothing is failing in your diff. Those pieces are leftover debris from when the axle housing was machined. Although alarming to find, it’s not a big deal, and not all that rare on the first fluid change either.

Looks very normal for the initial drain and fill, those are shavings from the milling process.
I saw the same material in my '17 40k miles ago. Do a search, there are several threads on it.

Makes me glad I did my rear diff at 25k miles. 36ft/lbs on the fill and drain plugs.
