Truck is 5 days old with 307 miles on the dash. First Toyota so not sure what to expect. Particularly cold this morning and a thick layer of frost was all over the truck. Started and let her warm up. Not .5 miles out my neighborhood the lane departure sensor turns on but is amber in color (green indicates active and functioning). Then the rear end collision sensor light activates amber, assuming telling me it's not working. It went off after about 15 minutes of driving.

Anyone experience this? Hoping the sensors and radar just had frost on them that melted off after warming up and not a real issue.

Most likely frost had covered up the sensors. You mentioned the rear end collision sensor light - are you talking about the proximity sensors that beep when you're backing up or too close to something? I turn those off in the winter around here, snow and ice makes them go off erratically. I keep my lane departure turned off at all times as well, so I'm not sure if the snow/frost would effect that system.

Since you're brand new to the truck, also be aware that frost on the windshield can take the radar system offline. In your rearview mirror, there's a small camera that's part of the TSS system. If there is ice on your windshield, it can obscure the camera, and you'll get an error message saying "clear debris from windshield/radar offline" or something like that. Same thing if there's snow on the front sensor on the grill.

Might always be good to add that mud could do the same if ice and frost is causing issues. Not that many of us go offroading in these trucks like the Tacoma guys, but simple hunt/fish spot searching or any other truck work could make that happen.

But OP, as @Max Power said, sounds like it's just the frost.

Theres a light by the RCTA indicator on the dash that appeared to be the front end collision warning indicator. The frost was thick and still some at the top of the windshield when I got going so that may have affected the radar system, thus activating the light in amber. Next morning start with frost I'll see what's up with it. Thanks boss

The sensors do get stuff on the from time to time and they freak out! Check the Toyota emblem for anything that might cause it to go off

Yeah havent had any super cold, frosty mornings since it happened. I'm assuming that's what it was. I'll update if anything changes and I find an actual issue. Thanks boss!
