Noticed the same bolt on both sides of rear suspension has corrosion on the half inch of threads visible. Not the bolt for the shock but the one lower for the control arm (guessing terminology there). All other bolts visible front and rear have no rust and look brand new; just these 2. Anyone noticed any such corrosion?

My concern is Toyo was always known as top shelf for component quality and sub vendor oversight. I had an evaporation tank leak due to a sub standard connecting rod. Now a couple of corroding bolts. I wonder if big things are not going to impact me here but a sea of little things like a Ford.

Those are your stabilizer bar end links, I wouldn’t lose sleep over the rust as it won’t affect its operation, if and when they need replacing and the stud is seized it can be removed with a cutoff wheel

Just surface oxidation, you leave any bolts outside and they will look like that. Mine look like that too they will not be seized ever.

Just found it weird only bolt visible with any corrosion at all surface or otherwise Mine is a Sept 22 build and no rust visible until past 60 days. And I don't live where it snows.

Got my 5k first service next month. Get it on record then

Small dab of silicone grease on each one will keep them rust-free forever.

Not really sweating it. My main concern is not so much this I can see as wondering about what I can't see

Ya, that's not much of a big deal. If it's that concerning, silicone or WD40 sprayed on there could give you some peace of mind

    Lots of stuff!
The inner bolt is probably a machined grade 5 or similar bolt, in the end joint, so they usually are not coated. The link is coated/plated so it will last longer before it starts to corrode but it will corrode as well. If you are able, you could take a wire brush to it and apply some cold galvanizing spray to the bolt. It will look better but you will need to touchup every other year. Or what dekeman suggested with caulking.

I use a product called ZRC which is super bright and contains mostly zinc. If you look around you trucks under carriage, you will probably find some other things that you would want to coat. I like to touch up the rotors where they rust just not getting any on the braking surface. You can see the rust forming behind the wheel near the hub and on the rotor perimeter. After a while this will get on the wheels.

Your location will also determine how quickly these components will turn red based on the conditions your truck experiences. Road salt and brine and proximity to salt water.

Use a product like fluid film and that will protect the metal serfaces from corrosion. My tacoma was inspected for the rust thru problem, not a spec of rust on the frame and I live in a state where they LOVE to use salt. Not to mention the ocean is only a few miles away.

I promise you there’s plenty of rust like that forming on other areas of the truck. Very normal but definitely bring it up to the dealer if you want since that is free to do and can only help in the future.
I second fluid film. That stuff saves trucks up here in the north east.

I am NOT a fan of the epoxy coats. Sure it can protect metal but if water gets behind it, it'll cause even more cancer in there.

The fluid film stuff is like what the farmers do. Some of them use tractors that are 70 years old and still are in good condition.
Why??? Because they use the old oil and a paint brush to coat the underside. Protects the metal from oxidation.

Agree don’t sweat surface rust on this bolt. If your OCD put a dab of grease and rubber thread cap over it.

That said, Toyota has lots of fasteners with silver zinc finish that rust like mad
