    Hi all,
We've got a 2001 Sequoia SR5, which we've had for about 17 years, and we love it! It has treated us really well.

Recently, we bought a nice-condition rear liftgate from a salvage yard, to replace the original, which was rusted and had suffered from pretty much every fault that Sequoia liftgates suffer from. :)

However, the new liftgate was from a 2006 model, with the updated rear light clusters. That's not a problem - the lights work just fine without modifying wiring. However, the rear wiper and the rear defogger aren't working. I'm guessing there was a change to the wiring between the two model years.

I have kept the wiper motor from the old liftgate in case I find that the new one's dead.

I've started peering at some wiring diagrams, but I suspect that ultimately my approach will have to be to open things up and play with a multimeter.

However.... Just in case any of you guys have tackled this problem before, I'd be grateful for any wisdom. :)

    Thanks!
    Dan

I'm not sure this works for all years but there's a reset procedure that has helped me with these sorts of issues. Roll the window all the way down then back up, after it's up, hold the up button for 10 seconds.

I had similar experience as to what rock climber posted. Basically if the truck isn't certain the window is all the way up it won't let the wiper or defroster run. I believe the remedy was as simple as rolling the window all the way down and then back up. That acts like a reset of sorts. I don't recall having to hold anything for 10 seconds (it was a while ago so maybe)

Did you figure anything out with this. I just swapped an 05 hatch and lights to my 03 and got everything working except the wiper.

Sorry xSOLOx, I haven't tried it yet. I've been putting it off until winter's a little closer. :) I suspect I'll be testing wires with a multimeter to see what goes live on the car body, and then tracing wires from the wiper to the connector, and then maybe re-wiring.

You aren't going to try rolling the window down and back up until winter is closer? Or did that not work?

    Sadly, that didn't work. :(
