My truck came equipped with the TRD air filters. The wet/oiled media type. I am not at all a fan of these things. They appear to have simply been dropped in dry, as there is no apparent oil to the filter media. I'd bet that at the port the guy just opened the box, dropped them in and slapped the sticker on the outside of the air box without oiling them. Likewise, I dont trust my local dealer to do a proper job of washing and re-oiling come service time. Plus, the oiling part of it just seems so arbitrary, too much or too little oil is bad. I just don't like em and want to swap them out for OEM paper filters.

The OEM part number for these is 17801-F4010, correct? Sparks Parts seeems to be mentioned here frequently. Good place to buy OEM Toyota parts online?

And is there any kind of engine programming specific to the TRD oiled filters that my truck has now that will be adversely effected if I swap them out to the standard filters?

    Thanks.

Just drop the paper ones in...wow on TRD the oil should be very light just a pinkish red to the element...paper ones in mine were a yellowish color...no tune involved.

They come pre-oil from K&N, which is who probably makes them for MANY manufs. I also wouldn't trust the oil techs for ANYTHING related to maintenance on my Tundra. As for Sparks, they are know to be expensive on shipping. Your local dealer should have a parts website and it will be priced the same as all dealers. For instant my dealers parts website is https://autoparts.southdadetoyota.com/. I order it form there and just pick it up when its ready, always has the parts at a discount. There is no ECM programming fro the TRD filters. Your truck won't know the difference, considering there is no difference between the 2.
