Replacing tires on my ‘23 SR5 off-road soon, and planning to size up from the stock 18’s to 275/65/R20 on a set of the black TRD 20” wheels I bought.

I’ve read way too much on this deciding between SL or E so I’m aware of the trade offs- ride quality is very subjective, but I’m trying to figure out how big of a difference it actually is on these trucks between SL and E. I don’t expect a Cadillac but I do appreciate the nice ride my truck currently has.

I prefer Toyo AT3 but they don’t make SL in the size I want. Nitto makes the recon grappler in an SL, I’d be ok with that but it wouldn’t be my first tire choice.

I tow a 5,500# travel trailer a handful of times each year, otherwise it’s my daily driver on mostly paved roads.

Anyone that could pass along their experience with this issue would be appreciated!

I had LT KO2 on my other vehicle, now it rolls on SL AT with less aggressive tread. Day and night in terms of comfort.

Where do you live? There must be a Tundra owner in your town that will invite you for a cruise?

Been riding on LT tires with a 20” wheel for over 200k miles. As long as you’re running the proper pressure in the tires, the ride is great. A 33” tire on a 20” wheel still has a 6.5” sidewall, which is no where near “being so short”

LT tires are stiffer and heavier so impact both ride, performance and MPG. Depending on the size you want to run, LT may be the only option however.

For LT tires- Between the weight, more aggressive tread, expect to see a 1-2 MPG drop and some ride degradation. Thats normal and part of the game typically when installing larger tires.

I run that size on my truck and love the ride. I have SL rated Falken Wildpeaks. Look great and still have stock ride for the most part. Gas didn’t change either

I haven't seen a SL rated Falken Wildpeak in 275/65/20. Where did you find that?

The sidewall on a 275/65/20 is about the same as the sidewall on my current 265/70/18. But yes I understand your point and i'm aware a 20" wheel will usually ride rougher. Honestly I just preferred the look, I'm not really a fan of the 18" TRD off-road wheels that came on my truck.

My bad, I take that back. My tires are 275/60/20. A little bigger than stock height and width

I went with the BFG KO2s in 275/60/R20 for their D load rating. They ride nice and I think the size is perfect for a non-lifted Tundra.

I don’t see any problem other than poor mpg because of the weight of the LT. Lower psi for soft ride and increase when you tow or haul heavy.

I have an extra set of Nitto Recon Grapplers on 20" TRD wheels. 295/65r20. Anyone is welcome to come test drive these on your truck.

I have 20in E rated Cooper Discoverer AT3XLTs in stock size. In my opinion, they are still pretty smooth and not too harsh. There was an MPG hit of about 1 - 1.5 MPG due to the extra weight. This tire is an all-terrain that was specifically designed and engineered for towing. I also tow about 6,000lbs (toy hauler) and they do great. Also fantastic wet weather and winter performance for an AT tire.
