So I was at a drive through yesterday and noticed when I shift to Drive I heard a metal rattling sound under my truck. When I shift to park it was gone. Anybody have that problem?

I swear I saw someone post similar experience but can't find it right now. I'll search later and respond if I find it.

Do you have a hybrid? If so apparently the noise comes from the hybrid system and other post on here say that Toyota has said it is normal. What is weird is I was at a drive thru last night and had the windows down and could hear the noise, turned the AC off and it went away. That was the first time I have ever tried that so not sure if it is related but just an interesting note. The noise can be annoying but everything I have read says it is just the hybrid system doing its thing.

Yes many of us who own hybrids, have this same issue. There is a fix in place for this under T-SB-0086-24 and I have mine scheduled to be looked at in 2 weeks.

The noise started on mine at about 5k miles. Now that it's cooling off here in the mornings in Phoenix, it's becoming more frequent and pronounced. Does anybody have a copy of the TSB to see what they actually do? I'd like to know before I go to my dealer and be told they'll need the truck for weeks to wait for parts. Thanks in advance.

From the post I read on a Tundra FB forum, it’s just a reprogramming of the ECU.

As @TundraATX512 stated, the issue is fixed with TSB-0086-24. I had this reprogramming done of the ECU this week and can confirm that the rattle is no longer there.

I get that people no longer have the rattle after the update, but how do we go from replacing the transmission to updating software as a fix? Kinda sounds like a bandaid to get past warranty. Make it make sense Toyota.
