I finally got around to installing the pieces I made.
There two pieces to each. First piece bolts down to floor.with threads for seat bolts.
Second is basically a spacer to make it a total of 1 inch tall . Seat is now around 3 1/2" off floor. With the foam removed there's a total of around 6 1/2 " from metal floor to seat .
My goal is to cut and fab two center seat brackets that will give my a longer open space . Where I can either install an aluminum riffle case
Or fab a metal storage .
And with the seat raised up I'm thinking of making a storage box in floorboard foot space .

Hey That is awesome! I was going to cut the factory seat brackets to create clearance. So they are square tubing. I was going to cut the top and sides off so I can install a metal box. The idea came from esp gun box.i just need the larger seat Space size box. 36” box is fine.

Any internet/keyboard lawyers think that modifying seat brackets from OEM spec could result in some type of lawsuit if someone was hurt in a crash and was related to the malfunction of the, in this case, rear seat? I had contemplated doing this (creating spacers) as well but always have this in the back of my mind.

    Absolutely 100% YES.

    Lawsuit, probably not.

Insurance not taking care of you, very high probability.

I thought about the idea of a wreck with modded rear seats.
But at this point in my life a work coat , lunchbox and a bunch of junk is all that is ever back there.
If we do go somewhere with more than myself and wife we take her 2017 Ford explorer.
It has heated. A/c seats that I special ordered with massage function.
I would order some for my tundra if I thought I could make them fit.
    Love them.

If you don't use the backseat....why not just remove the seats?

    Plenty of space that way.

Just like every mod done on here. tire size, suspension, engine etc will effect handling and braking distance or safety. etc.
its your vehicle do what you want with it.
My plan is to alter original bracket to allow a flush fit box. I plan to use a 1/4” steel plate across the the section of bracket to support the security box anyhow.way stronger than factory.

Sure can. I'm shopping with wife for Christmas but will when I get home.
I messed up three of the original metric bolts. I had to buy two different size taps to clean holes in floor. And new metric bolts.
    The bolts I used in brackets I built we're 1/2 bolts .
    But I'll take some pics.

    To a degree.

If it affects the safety of others in the vehicle or on the roads it is not yours do so as you please. There are limits.

As @14burrito said, if you don't use the back seats and want more space, just take them out.

How is it nosy, whey you publicly posted about it. Someone else questioned the safety concerns I second it.

It's a public forum, that is the point of it, discussion. If you don't want comments and feedback, post it on Instagram and block comments.

I worry about you and your truck when you do stupid things to it, that compromise the safety of others on the road or passengers in this case.

It's not just about YOU. Get over yourself. And for what it's worth, you can't do whatever you want to your truck if you drive it on public roads and streets. There are laws and regulations that everyone has to adhere to. I'm not sure if this one falls into any of them, but I still have concerns.
