For those of you that run a radar detector and want to have a sleek look, I just successfully tapped the digital rearview mirror on my 2022 TRD Pro with the MirrorTap MTX series from BlendMount. I wasn't able to find any posts anywhere about someone figuring out the digital rearview mirror tap, so figured I would post here in case anyone else was looking for instructions.

I slid the cover off the mirror/windshield, which exposed two sets of molex plugs that run to the digital rearview mirror. The one we are interested in is the one on the right side. I got out my voltmeter and found the ground tap from the continuity setting and then found the switched power from the DC setting. It was putting out between 14 - 15 volts when the vehicle was on and 0 when off (i.e. switched power). Then just completed by inserting the power (red) tap to the light blue lead and the ground (black) tap to the white lead. Hooked up the V1G2, put the cover back on, and good to go.

I got the BV1-2001R, which is on Amazon for $99. Also got the MTX series taps from BlendMount on Amazon.

Nice install! Looking to do this for my Capstone soon. Curious, did you get the 10" MTX wire or the 15"? Looks like a 10" from the pics. Thanks!

I went with the 15" since I didn't know what I was going to be working with until I opened up the cover and tried to figure it all out. I think you could get by with a 10" for sure, I had to stuff a fair amount of the wire back up into the cover/housing (plenty of space in there).

Would you please post a pic of the back side of the mirror where the mount attaches to the mirror stem. I tried to attach a blend mount but was worried about pinching wires.

Just don't severely overtighten. I probably did, but no issues yet! You could always wrap it in electrical tape or some other semi-protector prior to installing I suppose.

You can remove the clip at the top of the mirror that just holds the cables to the stem, then squeeze the mount behind the cables and secure it.

I haven't finished running wires yet, but the clip might be a bit difficult to get back on as they are pulled away from the stem a bit, I'll likely go with a small zip tie anyway as two additional cables will be going along the same path...

Nice, glad someone figured this out. When I looked on the Blendmount site they showed that 'arm' as one they did not support (yet?).

Well not sure what happened, but I installed my mirror tap for my Valentine 1 as described and now my dash is lite up like a Christmas tree. It is showing a CEL for the SRS Air Bag, Forward Collision Prevention system, and my fancy TV screen mirror is dead.

Can you post pictures of where you wire tapped? Did you do it while the truck was on?

I used your example, truck was off. I blew the SRS air bag 10A fuse. I replaced it with the spare from the fuse box by the battery. All CELs are gone and mirror works again. I’ll break out the multi meter tomorrow and do some investigation.

I was able to tap the mirror on my Pro. Works great except the whole radar moves with the movement of the mirror. I wonder if there is any way to keep radar pointing straight while adjusting the mirror. The radar seems to be "looking" in the same direction as the back of the mirror. Thanks

Works perfectly using an Escort detector and their patch.

Thanks for posting this! I used this info and the same hardware to install my radar detector last July.
I wanted to add a dashcam using the same tap method, however the radar detector MirrorTap and the dashcam mirror-tap proved to be too much hardware to fit in the power/ground of the harness. I then stripped part of the radar detector MirrorTap to expose power/ground coming from the harness and tapped into that with my dashcam leads. End result looks pretty clean, I'll update this thread if I end up blowing a fuse for the rear view mirror :)

Followed the above pictures for the mirror tap, worked like a charm. I decided to go a different route on the radar mount, though. I found this mount on Etsy. It works great! It’s more discreet since the radar detector is in the very top of the windshield. However, I cannot open my sun visor all the way. I also had to add a strip of electrical tape on the mount because the metal is just a little thinner than the radar detector opening. This caused some shaking and rattling as I drove. Wrapping electrical tape once around the back half of the mount solved the issue though.

how did you remove the panel to get to the wiring harness? is it just a clip that I pull downwards, or right ?

It’s mostly a downward motion along the plane of the glass. There are clips on both sides holding it together. Mine was very tight on one side, and when it unclips, it does so very quickly. I opened the cover twice and cut my finger twice.

Does anyone have tips for tapping in the mirrortaps? I've had my mirrortap for several cars, but on the Tundra I can't seem to insert even the smallest pins. One of them actually broke off.
