How many mile warranty? But it sounds about in the ballpark. Used vehicle warranties are much more expensive than if you were to buy it on a new vehicle - like two or three times what a new vehicle warranty would run. The dealership quoted us about the same for a warranty on our used Sequoia when we purchased the car.

It was 7 year 100,000 warranty. Dealer said if I didn’t buy it in a week he cannot guarantee it be same if I come back at a later date

For a Tundra, I would put $3500 in a simple mutual fund and use that money for any repairs in the future. My bet is that you will have money left over.

If it’s been well maintained, checks out and you can see that previous owner(s) cared for it, I agree with these folks, why get an extended warranty. It won’t pay for routine maintenance, and the 5.7 platform is one of the best vehicles ever made.

Go to the extended warranty thread and ask for Jerry's contact info to get a quote from him.

    2022 tundra 10 year/125k mile was $2200

    Just my experience:
I bought extended warranties when I bought my 2005 and 2014, both new.
Never did use the warranties, nothing broke...
110K miles on the 2005, although the air pump petered out at 85K.
It was a common issue with that truck.
    Traded it in on 2014.
About to hit 100K on the 2014, never a problem, knock on wood.

I like the @French Avocado advice.
If you've got that much for a warranty. put in savings with your hopefully existing emergency fund.
It's not like you bought a new Gen 3, then I'd recommend an extended warranty...:eek2:

As to the pressure sales tactic, I'd politely tell him to fu(k off.

    Welcome to the forum..

FYI - the dealer typically has a 100% markup on the cost of extended warranties.

Good luck with that. Engines are 20k plus. Turbos are 2k. Head unit is several k. Last sensor I had replaced couple years ago was $650 with labor. The truck has a zillion of them. This ain't 2000. One bad turbo pays for the extended warranty.

A 2017 is a 3rd party warranty either way. I don't think Toyo writes outside of 3 yrs/36k unless CPO which I doubt this is. One poster sent them to Jerry for the ubiquitous Toyo quote and I don't see anyone getting roid rage with him

The put it in savings quote seemed to me like advice for a lifetime. It is not advice for newer models that is for sure

No way would I pay that for a 2.5 gen warranty and I used mine extensively.

I'm surprised the dealers don't start putting a tip jar on their desks.

It's factored in the total cost.

    Too many, but not enough....
You could get a MUCH better price. Check out the extended warranty thread. You could save 40-50% easy.

The extended warranty thread is pretty simple. If you are under 3yr/36k you can purchase new factory extended warranty. If you are not, then you can not and are relagated to aftermarket warranties, which are overwhelmingly seen as much too expensive and cover much too little.

No, unfortunately in this case Jerry is not the answer.

Probably will not like my other advice. Save your money and pay cash for the vehicle.
