Okay so I have the dreaded secondary air injection p2442 issue unfortunately the previous owner did not get it done under warranty on the tsb bulletin.

mine is having the issue in bank 2 as if that matters

essentially it means replacing the air injection assembly.

which means taking off the air intake manifold.

so rather than do that I am looking at putting in the bypass kit from Hewitt-Tech.

Has anyone does and does anyone have experience and recommendations.

I've had a version of their kit on my truck for a number of years. What I would recommend is that you ring them up and speak to them directly as there may be some specific questions they may have for you about your truck, and it's always nice to discuss topics like this in a real-time back-and-forth. The components that might be required so solve this for you will dependent upon the answers you have to their queries and to have your heads together at the same time help so much. Let us know your outcome!

Yes, I had the same trouble code and installed a Hewitt kit on my 2007 5.7L. I have had absolutely no issues since. Highly recommended.

Yep I did mine but I bought a different kit https://rutechsolutions.com/ it's cheaper it's plug and play and all you have to do is start the truck within 10 seconds or just recycle the key

Installed mine about 6 months ago, no issues. Highly recommend that you do it as well.

I ran the Hewitt Tech when one of the SAIS drivers failed on my 5.7 Land Cruiser. The two connections at the back of the engine are a pain to get to, but it worked as advertised. I'd recommend it.

I installed the Hewitt Tech on my 2008 with 128,000 in January. Pumps were still working fine, now I can forget about them going bad and throwing codes.
