I'm a long time tundra owner in years past and went to a Chevy with 6.2l the last few years. I just sold my Chevy though and am considering jumping into a tundra. I'm looking specifically at the Tundra Platinum trim. In the past I've always had the TRD package so I'm wondering if the Platinum has any skid plates underneath? I am not a serious off roader but just curious if other Platinum owners have been happy with their choice of trim?

The platinum doesn't have any skid plates underneath. Nor does the TRD Off-Road really, unless you consider a rather small ballistic nylon cover under the engine as a skid plate. Toyota calls it a skid plate, I beg to differ. The only 3rd Gen that comes with a proper skid plate is the TRD Pro.

It does not have any skids. Couldn't be happier with the comfort and features. Smooth and quiet yet far more capable offroad than the 3/4 ton chevy I came from.

Beautiful truck and for a few hundred you can add the TRD Aluminum Skid Plate

I call the Platinum trim the City Slicker model. The black wheels and dark chrome looks great.

Definitely a city slicker. No skids but a cat shield and front skid combo is cheap

Dealer forced me to buy the cat Sheild and I got the Trd Pro skid after. Never know when you might have to jump the curb to beat traffic.

Capstone.Pimp Ride. Those panda seats , chrome trim, 22” wheels and locking gas cover for times you out working the corners.

Just installed the TRD skid, and the Talon converter cover on the Platinum. The skid is easy, all the expensive drivetrain etc was protected by the synthetic carpet skid. Every other day driving in Colorado there are rocks in the road a dead skunk or raccoon , a skid is just smart.
