I’m looking at a 2021 Platinum. Previous owner installed a welded in aftermarket muffler. Has a pretty deep sound at start up. I have no idea of what type muffler it is. Also installed a chrome 3” tip on the tailpipe.
My concern is how this might affect fuel consumption/efficiency, torque production, or cause drone/vibration. It appears to be some type of smaller muffler possibly 12”x12” in size. I tried to attach a pic. Hopefully it works.
    Any info. Is appreciated.

It would probably have a very small effect on MPG. The drone may become annoying but that's up to you. If you want to go back to stock lots of stock cat backs are available for little money and 2014-2021 would work.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea what it would cost me at my local muffler shop (guy does great work and is independent) to bring it back to stock?
    thanks

If you buy the stock cat back on the market installing is very easy. It simple bolts on and shouldn't be more than a hours labor. I saw one on FB I'm my area for $100 and it only had be used for a short period of time. If you don't want to do it yourself any tech can change it out, no need to go to a muffler shop.

Here one on FB from a 2018 for $50.

That looks like a Flowmaster Super 10 or something similar. Raucous and annoying, IMO. Loud, lots of noises, and tons of drone. Might lose some low end torque, but that's debatable.

Personally, I would definitely cut it off and replace it with something else - almost ANYTHING else. Stock is nice and quiet. I had a Flowmaster Delta 50 for a few years, which had a nice subtle tone to it, but lost some low end. Above 2200 rpm it was great, but puttering around it lost some power. Hardly any drone. I changed it to a SpinTech 8000 series for a few months, then changed again to a laminar flow Flowmaster Pro Series after adding the supercharger. The SpinTech was nearly stock quiet except for some drone in between 1600 and 1800 RPM. A helmholtz resonator would take care of it, though. It made really good power down low - better than stock, IMO, and way better than the Delta 50. The Flowmaster Pro is a bit louder but better flowing with the supercharger.

You have lots of options for exhaust, but I would get rid of that tiny little noise maker that's on there. My opinion. Local muffler shop would probably charge you around $100 to put a new muffler in if you supplied the muffler. Most will install a stock-type muffler in the $200 range, and a performance muffler for less than $300.
