It will probably be far cheaper to add an aftermarket leather kit and add the heating/cooling seat functionality to your existing seats. It is definitely possible. Adding heated seats is relatively easy…you can see mine (Gen 3) HERE.

There are aftermarket cooling kits, but they looked like more trouble than they were worth so I didn’t bother. HERE is an example.

My seats especially the driver seat are worn and it would need a new cushion

plus there’s the time involved in tearing out and disassemble my stock seats versus a drop in ready replacement

I’ve found a deal on a whole set of platinum seats front and rear that would be cheaper than a Katzkin and new foam job,so that’s why I’m looking

You don't have heat or cool in your current situation, right? I say buy the seats... And then figure out how to do the wiring! There may be some modules or something involved with the stock heat/cool function, but I have to believe that it's doable.

I doubt all of the connectors are shared, but the basic idea is all the same.

I imagine if i could find somebody who makes plugs/harnesses then I could make something work! I just have to find out what each wires function is then go from there

New seat foam is about $120. A new cloth cover for the bottom cushion is about $250. If you're going to yank your seats out anyway, you might think about doing those repairs to drastically increase the parts value of what you're taking out.

A new upholstery kit in vinyl is $800.

I hope those seats are a good deal. When I looked at this issue for my truck, a worn set of leather seats was $1000+.

My cloth cover is fine but the cushion is worn out of shape.

I wouldn’t be spending more money to fix my stock seats. That’s pointless to me. Ive seen beat to heck seats selling for decent money and there’s not a lot of tundra CrewMAX seats around. I’d put the whole cloth set up for like $500-$600 and move on with my life.

The set of platinum seats im eyeballing has 74k Miles and the rear look brand new

I'm not super sure on heating/cooling electronics, though I'd imagine I could potentially try to figure stuff out. At this specific moment, though, I'm way behind on several commitments to others so I'd be foolish to over-extend myself much more. I am game to try to offer up random advice though. Cooling would be fun I think, heated seats are reasonably straightforward to install. I'm actually stalled out on my own heated seats in the Tacoma, bought some OEM switches b/c I hate the green and wanted matching blue but haven't allocated time to attempt the switch swap so I'm stuck using one green for driver and no switch (hence no heat) for passenger.

I also would really like to get clazios for my 2002 Tundra but they don't seem to be an option. I haven't looked to see if Katzkin can do anything there. My cushions seem halfway OK despite 20 years old. A while back I wanted to go with buckets and a center console but now that I have two kids the bench seems the ideal option. It's always more practical in a RC to have a bench anyway.

So, just a flyby to wave and say hi I guess? I would totally go for new seats here if you're game, OP, worst case you open doors to add heating/cooling down the road even if you don't get it wired up immediately.

    @daveeasa

    I agree

Just power them up initially for movement then figure out the rest later!

Now to convince the wife that this is a needed upgrade. You know, for the kids sake and all that haha

Easier to clean leather than cloth

Be careful if you try this.

I tried installing Platinum leather seats into my cloth seat ‘12. Granted the leathers came out of the same year Sequoia, but I had a terrible time. The driver seat plugged in just fine. The passenger seat had different connectors. I messed with splicing and connecting wires, but kept blowing out fuses and the airbags never actually connected. After many trials and errors I gave up.

Even if the connectors match up, make sure you unplug the battery first or you’ll likely blow fuses.

I’ve read similar stories about Sequoia seats not being compatible whether bolting up or wiring.

My parts would be strictly Tundra. People have swapped 2nd/3rd Gen seats around so I’m sure it can be done

The adjustability om the platinum seats are amazing as well, even if you don't get the heating and cooling to work. If you need pictures of connectors or anything I can post some if you need them.

I’d like to bump this back up rather than start a new thread.

My question is for anyone who’s attempted this on a 2nd gen with a base sr5. Power driver manual passenger seat.
Has anyone had success in getting power to a manual passenger seat?
I have a local wrecker who has Tundra leather seats from a 2nd gen but I’m not sure how to get power functions to work on the passenger seat?

I’ve gone over some of your posts. My 08 must be a lower trim Sr5, I don’t have the harness prewired for the light sensor on the dash nor did mine come with jbl.

Looking at old posts a lot of people go with sequoia seats. My lead is from a 2010 tundra, just need power for the passenger side. My current cloth driver seat has power and lumbar.
