I’m looking to buy my first tundra and came across a used 2007 tundra with 100k miles that I liked. It wouldn’t be my daily driver, mainly will use it on the weekends doing work around the house. I did some research online and read articles saying to stay away from the 07 version. It was the first year of the 2nd gen and had a lot of issues. I however see 07’s listed for sale with over 200k and even 300k miles. I’m thinking if the 07 is that bad how did these trucks get so many miles. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Is the 07 version that awful where you would recommend not to buy it? Thanks

I have also read that. I have a 2007 and have owned it since new. I have 182,000 at this point. It is my daily and I tow a small boat. Only real issue I have had was my transmission is throwing a solenoid check engine light. Here in NJ that will not pass inspection. Truck runs great otherwise. About to rebuild the tranny because I want to keep until she rusts out. How much they asking. 100,000 on the 5.7, how much. I would buy it.

Thanks for your response and feedback. The one I’m looking at is an 07 limited with 100k miles for $15k. I just want to make sure it’s dependable.

My 07 is creeping on 230k. Needed a starter at 180k and a wheel bearing around 200k.

Head unit, sub's , components, front / back camera's, too many lights to mention, dual battery, winch / bumper, TRS projector headlights, roof nest hard-shell, integrated backup spot lights, vault, all aluminum radiator / water pump, tailgate storage, plenty of dents and scratches
My 07 CrewMax is AWESOME! 183k miles, only "complaint" is MPG terrible in the shity, do the maintenance on schedule it'll be a million miles before the motor dies

My 2007 is insulted by the author of aforementioned articles. 276k and runs like a swiss watch.

Check out the frame for rust very thoroughly before you buy any truck. Look at the wear on the brake pedal rubber, tow hitch, seat bolster, and door hinge and latch wear to help determine how it was used. Highway miles won't show much wear on those.

$15K is a little much for an 07 even if it is a limited. I think $12K would be a good starting point.

I bought a 2007 CM LTD last year (2022) with 213k on it. Went from Erie Pa to Denver to get it ( had to be rust free). Jumped in and gave it a 1250 mile test ride with zero problems all the way home. I had a FULL maintenance done when I got back. Truck runs like a Swiss watch. I wouldn't worry about it esp if it comes from someplace that doesn't have a rust issue. One hundred thousand miles is nothing for these trucks.

I will second @Trident My truck is also insulted by such commentary 5.7L 2WD long bed. I'm at 280k+ owned it since new it's my daily. Average 15mpg on long highway trips, local is probably 13.5mpg..

15g for a truck with no miles like that is a win. I saw a 2013 with 70,000 for 25g listed recently and from what is out there that was a deal. Good luck with it.

Sounds like a nice ride and decent price. I would not be scared of it being a 2007 vs newer. Any issues were probably worked out years ago.

If I owned a 2007 with only 100k miles, I would want top dollar for it.

15k doesn't seem too bad considering the mileage. Does it have 4x4?

As an 07 owner myself, the biggest worry is the potential of valve spring failure. Apparently this is a very rare occurrence but mainly only happens on early (07-08?) 5.7 models. That being said I absolutely love my 07 with 194k on the 5.7. Most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever owned. Just drove it from Springfield,MO to Galveston ,Tx (750 miles) the other day. Amazing Truck!

I had an '07, fantastic truck. The water pump failed prematurely, started leaking at around 30k. The serpentine belt was failing at that point and is what lead to the discovery of the pump leak. Both were fixed under warranty and never had another issue with the truck.

I love my 07 limited crewmax 4x4. I paid more for 148k miles in 8/2022. As long as it doesnt have rust and is generally in good shape it's a good deal.

Love my 07 Tundra 5.7 295k on the clock . Have replaced things here and there some because preventative maintenance . Only big things front driver needle wheel bearing a few years ago with EGCS Bushing , secondary air Injection pumps with Hewitt bypass , bed rust cut and replaced with new metal and recently one of my catalytic converts became loose in its housing and throwing codes currently working on that . Bought it for 11k with 225k

I paid a little less then that for my 07 Limited
I paid between 12 and 15 for my 07 Limited abt 2 years ago and felt like it was too good of a deal to pass up.
Mine had 120k on it, 1 owner, dealer serviced since new. Some good aftermarket bits and totally clean except for the clear on the roof. Extremely happy with it.

Still keep up on prices on them locally and they seem to fall into two categories. Ultra low mileage "old man trucks" that live in a garage until needed for something specific that command big bucks and used up, beat up high mile rats that people are asking about what I paid for mine

In this post covid world a half decent truck cost the same as a decent truck, prices have come down a bit but most prices are still inflated and IMO unlikely to come down. I will try my best to keep my 07 for as long as I can and fix it when stuff breaks. I'm in NJ and trucks with 200k+ miles are asking for too much.

I just recently sold a 2005 4Runner limited for my 2007 Tundra CM Limited. As much as I loved the 4Runner, if I had to choose, I'd have the Tundra all day long.
