Purchase process for new Tundra

I am in the shopping phase for my Tundra. It has been 20+ years since I last purchased a new car, so I have been doing a lot of research on both various trucks and the purchase process. Right now with the Tundra being in the middle of the MY25 - MY26 transition, if I want to move soon on a Tundra I will most likely need to request the trim/options I want through a dealership. I have read a lot of stuff online that some dealerships will never be able to get the exact truck you want but some can.

So my question for the day is: Did you purchase a Toyota using the "Special Order" or request process at a dealership? If so could you get exactly what you wanted?

Scott, I initially went the special order route but was told the wait would be FIVE MONTHS. I was not willing to wait that long so I found an incoming 2026 Tundra I liked that should arrive by August 29th. It was only missing one option I wanted which was the power running boards. The dealer said they can add that when it arrives so I went with that truck. Normally, when I have ordered a vehicle the wait is 2 to 3 months which I didn’t mind. But five months was too long for me.
