so I have been shopping around and looking for what is going to be the best for the paint on my new 1794 Limited Edition. I have seen the do it yourself stuff for like 25$ all the way up to a tint film for 7000$ ceramic coating seems to be the middle ground. am I missing something? whats the word on the street. just want to best to protect this beautiful truck

As for protection you wipe on and off, ceramic is the high point. Ceramic lasts a long time but varies greatly on length. Ceramic has to be done correctly and is very labor intensive. If the prep work is not done correctly, you have just wasted 1K to 4K. The detailer that does it needs to know what they are doing. If you do it yourself, you are saving a lot of money but you have to know how to polish out defects and ready the paint for the ceramic coating. I haven't ventured into ceramic yet. I like sealants, they last about six months, if they are a good sealant. I use a sealant that has been around for a long time. I use Klasse AIO and the second step Klasse Pure Sealant. They look good and protect well. They are a lot of newer sealants that are great. Sealants are usually about 20 to 40 dollars. Just decide how much you want to spend and go from there. If you decide to do it yourself, please buy quality microfiber towels. It is worth it.

Ceramic coatings are great, but they are not for everyone. If you decide to go with a shop....get referrals and details of the product(s) they use and the warranty. Doing it yourself is very satisfying, but can seem daunting if you've never done any type of paint correction before. For the most part, you can ignore longevity claims....every vehicle is different, as are the conditions they are driven in. Ceramics are not 'set it and forget it'....they require maintenance just like anything else.

As was already posted....give some thought to a quality sealant to start with. It will require a lot less prep.....and maybe will buy you the time to see if you really want to go next level. I've used a bunch of them.....and my favorite and go-to is Jescar Ultra Lock Plus. Super easy to use, 6 - 9 months durability, and will leave your vehicle glossy and slick. There's a link to it below on Amazon.....do yourself a favor...start with the 8oz bottle....you do not need a ton of this product...it goes on very thin.

    Keep us posted
