Been searching for a tundra for a month now. Was finally able to pre-order one that was an allocation. The one I picked was a SR5 base. The price for the truck is 51, but the dealership is saying that they are going to do an aftermarket lift for about 3 inches. Adding an additional 10 grand. I told him that I do not want the lift. They said they have to. The truck will go into production tomorrow and will take about 6 to 8 weeks. I went to the dealership this morning and told them that I do not want any kind of aftermarket parts. I want to confirm that.

while I was filling out papers which were being handed to me very rapidly and being asked for signatures he handed me a paper that was stamped in red and said well when your truck arrives you have up to five days to decide if you want it. Please sign there.

I signed and looked at the bigger picture and they were trying to get me to sign for the $10,000 of aftermarket parts. Which I do not want.

He stated that, that’s fine I do not have to get the lift. His words, he said at the time of arrival they will not do it. Has this happen to anyone before?

I did also call Toyota headquarters and file a formal complaint.
The lady on the phone also agreed and found it Highly unusual for a dealership to add aftermarket parts after the fact of it arriving from production.

I was also assigned a case number.

If you signed that, it looks like you agreed to the $9995 lift. I’d get my deposit back and go somewhere else. This sale won’t go smoothly for you.

Yep. Pretty sure Tundra VINs start with 5. That one starts with 3.

Edit: it starts with a 5 in the first pic.

And 5.99% financing? Run away from that deal.

I’m also from Clovis (although I no longer live there) so I looked at that dealers inventory for S&G. Their inventory all said to call for pricing. That’s when I knew if I still l lived there I would not give them my business because they’d be pulling BS like this. I’d definitely go somewhere else.

Well we can just add Toyota if Clovis, CA to the growing list of shit bag dealerships.

There’s no shortage of shit bag dealers these days gouging customers.

That appears to be a $77,540.64 Tacoma my friend when all is said and done. ($868.62 x 72 mos + $15,000.00 down payment). What a mess...as others have stated, wait for your time to lapse and get the refund then go elsewhere.

This is just so wrong in many ways. Can't believe what I'm reading here. WTF? "If this is true".....EGREGIOUS! Worst instance of a dealer I've seen. OP....why the frack did you sign that? Did you want a Tacoma or a Tundra???

Wonder if you can escape since they had you sign up for two totally different trucks. You really need to tell Jose to kick rocks and pay attention. I don't know how so many guys get bent over by dealers, you're in control! They can't sell you shit that you don't want. Learn to walk away.

10k for a fawking 3" lift? Kidding me Jose!

Yeah that’s crazy I live in oakhurst CA and have a deposit down in Longo because almost everywhere in California has ADM which I’m NOT going to pay you can shove it whichever way you look at it.

Cancel that deal immediately and get your refund. You're not going to get what you want. I suggest you look outside the state of California to make any vehicle purchase. You can probably get MSRP deals in AZ, NV, UT, ID, NM which are all relatively close.

Another word of advice, when making big financial decisions DO NOT RUSH and don't sign anything you don't feel comfortable with signing. Their tactic is to obviously shove papers your way and make you feel pressured. That's why dealers want you to come in, they want you on their home court and want you to feel the pressure of obligation and time. Last two car deals I did were online and I knew how much I was paying and paperwork finalized before stepping into the dealership and handed the keys. That dealership might be gouging but they're also preying on your kindness.

As the story goes, give up buying any new car and hope thing correct themselves next year...but if you can sell and not buy that's a different story!

You signed a contract for a Tacoma. While you don't have to accept the truck as indicated by the red stamp, I bet a Tundra arriving instead of a Tacoma is very unlikely. In court, the only thing that matters is what's on paper. Read before signing anything!!! That's the number 1 rule the military taught me.

$900/ mnth car payment? You guys a nuts! I'll never need a car/ truck that bad. Could I afford it? Sure, but the financially responsible me says, "HELL NO!" My 2022 24' SeaRay boat payment isn't even close to that.
