Just wondering if these covers can be removed without breaking them. I have usb chargers plugged into them but never tried removing the covers for fear of breaking the hinge.

    Thanks in advance.

If you're going to pull the panel and try to remove the covers, you might as well just replace it with a USB socket.
I used this one and simply tapped in to the 12v socket wiring.

I wanted a digital volt meter, you can find some that just have USB ports.
The covers of these can come off when you install if you don't want them..

If you don't get an answer on the OEM socket cover, I can get my OEM socket out of the Toyota box in the attic in a day or 2 and check it out..

Pro tip: you can carefully slice the factory plug in half and the terminals will slide over the pins on the aftermarket USB port.
