I can't seem to figure out why my 15A power outlet fuse keeps blowing.
I installed a dash cam powered by the cigarette lighter when I purchased the truck back in February and one or two phone chargers from the usb and other cigarette lighter. The fuse blew, I unplugged everything and replaced the fuse and plugged back in my dash camera and the fuse blew again. I've removed the plastics and checked the plugs and don't see any issues. I am lost now, any suggestions?

Sounds like a short somewhere. If it only happens when the dash cam is plugged in, then I’d say that’s your issue. Is it a brand name or Chinese electronics?

Chinese one I got for free from my brother. I just figured it wasn't the issue since I had been using the dash cam well before the fuse blew and my wife has plugged in a different charger for her phone I thought was the issue. If it is a short, would I just have to replace the cig input I was using to fix the issue?

Did the charger blow the fuse? Im leaning towards its either the dash cam or the fuses are low quality.

Ive been reading issues of fuses being sold on places like Amazon that are not at all rated correct

I believe it was her charger since I didn't have any issues until she started switching up the charger cord she was using. I first replaced it with the spare 15A under the hood. I still have to take a trip to the parts store for a replacement fuse, but I don't want it to keep blowing on me. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to electrical so this is all a learning experience for me!

Grab some fuses from the parts store and try running the camera without the chargers and see. More than likely the charger + dashcam operating at the same time is blowing the fuse. Try using an oem cable from apple/samsung vs a cheap cable as well.

Awesome, I will try that first and hope that holds. Eventually I want to upgrade my dash cam with a higher quality one that's wired in, instead of a plug in one. Thanks for the help, i'll let you know if that works!
