I added a power outlet to my 2017 Tundra last week. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

    Potek 500W power inverter
    Mini power desk 3-prong socket

I used an office desk power outlet which gave me the desired flush-mount look and feel as well as a similar texture to the rest of the interior. Cut a hole in the side of the center console on the passenger side (plenty of room behind the console wall) and ran the wire behind the console wall across the floor to the underside of the driver seat where the power inverter sits. Power inverter is wired to the fuse box.

Which fuse box do you have the inverter hooked up to and did you tape into a power source that turns on with the key?

The white box is a TP Link mini travel router which is powered by the inverter via USB. I use it for creating a wireless network in my truck so the kids can play Minecraft with one another on a LAN.

It is wired to the fuse box on the lower left of the driver's side behind the floor panel. I used a fuse tap from a slot that is dependent on the ignition; that way I don't drain the battery if I exit the truck and leave something plugged in.

Very cool mod. I've been wanting to install and inverter in my truck. I may use your clean install as inspiration.

That's really cool. I suppose it uses your phone's data as a wifi hotspot?

That is correct; the TP Link is somewhat unique in that it will bridge to your phone's hotspot. Once I turn on my hotspot, everything connects to the internet. Turning off the hotspot still allows for the local network to continue working.

So, do u see a need to use the router? Other devices can connect your hotspot directly as well...

    nothing much
VERY NICE! I also have an inverter in my truck, much much larger, 3000 watts 5000 watts peak.
I'd suggest a larger one as you never know what you'll need to power. I use mine for a coffee maker and a microwave when we are camping.
i do love the the flush mounted outlets, if i ever have the inclination to do more shit to my truck, that would be on the list.

Great install! Just took a look at the Plug on Amazon, was curious about connections. There are none which is really nice.

Yes it is; I have a MacBook Air and it uses between 60W and 85W of power. It should be enough power for a small air compressor to fix a flat, too.

I like the flexibility, that's all. You're right about other devices uses my hotspot directly. However, I wanted a closed private network for the kids' tablets without getting out to the internet. I also have my Google Mini connected to the TP Link so that when I start the truck and do not turn on my hotspot for some reason I don't have to listen to "I can't connect to your wifi right now" from Google over and over.
