Dropped off my tow hooks and front sway bar to get powder coated today and got a quote for the four bumper ends. $185 seemed like a decent price to me, but i was a little weary when he said that they would just “rough up” the chrome and coat it. Anyone have any experience with this? I was under the impression that the chrome had to be removed before coating.

Removing the chrome would be cost prohibitive....$$$$

I think someone on here was selling a pair of powder coated end caps. If I recall I think they just scuffed the chrome. I'll see if I can find the thread for you.

Did you get your truck back yet from the dealer? (cam tower leak) - everything good to go now?

Yessir!!! Got it back 2 days ago. Took a day n half.. checked it out and I can see the black sealer around it now... I hope everyone that’s going thru that mess gets it covered thru warranty or that recall.. paying that price for something that Toyota went on the cheap side for is bullshit .. good luck every one

Glad to hear it. Mine hasn't been completed yet because it's not leaking enough at this point according to the dealer. They are just going to monitor it for now. I'm only at 36K, so I've got plenty of time.

100k extended for you?? That’s what I have.. but I still think it’s bs. They see a leak and know what it is, they should get on that shit and fix it now.

I've got the $0 ded, 100K warranty and also did the pre-paid 75K maintenance. I spoke with the master tech while it was up on the lift. He said Toyota corp is denying them unless there is more of a leak than what I have. He said they always get worse, so just give it some time. It's covered til 60K under the powertrain warranty also. Maybe if I wait it out both will leak and I can get both sides done. Right now only the drivers side is seeping.
