I have "flat" spots on my step bars and its driving me nuts. What's the best way to make it look better?

How old are they? If newer I would be contacting Nfab.
Not sure what can be done. Looks like Some kind of issue with the coating.

They are about a year old. I will definitely contact them. I don't think powdercoat would do that even if it was stepped on. I'll try to get some more pictures of it in the sun so that you can see it better.

I thought I read that wd40 shines it up. I could be way off though so if you try it, test it in an inconspicuous area. It was a while ago and my memory isn't great, but I think I read about wd40 on powder coating over at tacomaworld in a thread about @KB Voodoo tailgate caps or cross bars. Maybe he has some insight here, he makes a lot of truck add ons that he gets coated.

Ah my mind hasn't failed me......yet anyway. Thanks for chiming in and confirming my last few shreds of sanity.

Would WD40 make the surface slippery?

@Pudge, I'll get better pics today but it's more like the texture itself has flattened out.

There isn't a manufacturer that I have found that does decent powder coating. I had steel NFabs on my '05 Tundra that were peeling out of the box. I had them stripped and powder coated by my local guy. I know he does decent prep and they held up in WI for 10 years.
I bought new NFab Predator Pro steps for my 2012 when I purchased it. They have been on for 1-1/2 years and after this winter I will have to remove them and have them properly powder coated. The factory powder coating is peeling off the sides of the steps and at the joint of the end caps and main tube.
I just bought a rear bumper off ebay and I had it stripped and and powder coated locally before I installed. Not going to waste my time doing it twice.
