Positive battery/wires to terminal

    battery crapped out on me. I should have taken a picture before i took everything apart… have the negative side hooked up, but can’t remember how the positive side went due to taking the whole clamp apart, don’t want to make things worse. a little help in the right direction would be appreciated.

    First off rotate that clamp 90 clockwise.
    - Large flat connector to one post
    - Other two rounded connectors together on the other post.

    My two cents . . .

    Umm. You ALWAYS connect the negative terminal LAST! Turn the positive 180 degrees, square ended bolt goes through the terminal horizontally, other two connect where they make the most sense vertically.

    Actually the OEM terminals are kinda cheapo. My previous Toyota I had a gold plated marine terminal and it never got corroded like the OEM ones.

    Was going to say this also! Take the neg off. Connect positive last to avoid sparks that could pop fuses and harm electrics.

    Also @jakobe1411 you see that felt donut (they come in red and green) @bfunke is using? You really should have those felts on your batteries to help with corrosion.

    You also need to clean those terminals hanging off to the side with a wire brush before reinstall. Apply di-electric grease.

    I'd recommend a new terminal, I don't think that terminal is factory, but for now, this is where everything goes. Note the plate (purple) should be oriented correctly, I think it goes with the dimple in the valley? And the bolt with orange line is going to use a washer, just like the one with the blue line, and I think the washer is next to the bolt with the red line. Basically red bolt + green nut is what makes the terminal clamp.

    I would:
    • Have the two holes facing to the corner of the battery
    • Loosely install the red/green fasteners
    • Lay the purple part onto the terminal
    • Use the orange bolt (with washer) to lock down connector 1
    • Use the blue bolt (with washer) to lock down connectors 2 + 3
    • You could probably also sandwich connectors 1, and 2+3 between the terminal and the purple plate
    • PS - your evap canister hoses (all the vacuum hoses above the bolts) are fucking rotted to shit! Do you have any codes set currently?
