Hey guys and gals, I need assistance. I have a 2015 5.7L. I've added some accessories that do not help my gas mileage. For example... TRD Cool Air Intake, TRD Duel Exhaust, Ranch Hand Cattle Guard, & 34" Tires with a leveling kit. But I've also added a Bully Dog GT Gas tuner to help. Or counter. Unfortunately I'm getting 9.7 mpg. I originally had the tuner set to Performance to have some fun. Now I have it on Economy because of the gas mileage. the MPG did not change. Still running 9.7. And I can tell from the Economy setting that it's running much different. I recently pulled my Can-Am filter and cleaned it with the Can-Am cleaning kit. When you're done, the instructions tell you to drench the filter in the oil solution they provide. Which I did. Seems to me that would choke your engine? Anyone have any experience in this issue? We've leaving on vaca Friday and it's a long drive. I need to get more that 2010 miles per tank.

No but my plan is to get them done before I leave town. They're in need. I didn't think brakes would hurt or help gas mileage.

When you clean your filter, is it suppose to be dry or wet? I have an AFE dry filter that I would regularly clean for close to 50k miles, reinstall when dry. I was getting 9 on the interstate with the AFE, I replaced with a cheap paper filter and now it's 11 mpg's on the interstate. With the paper, I don't have to press the gas as hard around town either. Might help.

Because MPG is an average, it calculates the mileage throughout the life of the vehicle or whenever the battery was last disconnected. Your bully tuner is prolly helping mpg out, but it’s gonna take months and months for your mpg to begin crawling upwards. I only drive short distances with my kids in the city and I get around 10-11, that’s without a lift and stock size tires. You can disconnect your battery for a minute to get a better idea of current MPG...

I'm calculating manually. Good to know about the filter. I'll try that today as well.

Oh, and if you’re like me and my family, the truck is constantly idling in the driveway or in the parking lot warming up. Under these circumstances you’re averaging 0 MPG which bogs down the average mpg you’re seeing.

When I was stock, I was getting between 13-14. Im averaging 10-10.5 now with lift and 37s. About 60 miles a day, half of them being highway. Might just be a lead foot

For what it's worth, for a while I was getting 9. I started paying attention to my RPMs and found the sweet spot that allowed for better MPG. I keep the RPMs around 1800rpm at 70mph now. Once I kept my foot out of it, I got better MPG.

What oil are you running? I have a 4.6 with 106k miles. Just bought it like 4 moths ago and I was getting high 12s. Not sure what oil grade was in it but I changed my oil to the recommended 0w20 mobile 1 and now getting mid 14s.

You can test the brakes by simply raising the vehicle and spin the wheel by hand. Also, the vehicle should be able to climb a sloping driveway without pressing on the gas.

No, I live is SC and most interstates are 70mph. I drive 10-12 mph over any post speed limit. I'm a paramedic so my foot is usually planted down hard on the gas pedal :burnrubber:.

I was actually looking Into getting that pedal commander, its supposed to help with MPG by changing the sensitivity of the pedal response. In other words with the way I drive now to run 80mph i would have to push more on the pedal. So if I just keep driving the way I do now them I'll actually run at a slower speed in turn saving gas. Sounds dumb as shit right? But a lot of ppl got it and love it. Like anything else it's going off muscle memory of how you drive with you not realizing that your saving gas.
