Hey guys, Anyone have trouble putting the energy poly bushings into the spring eyelets? I finally got the old bushing out and it looks like the new bushing is too big, Ordered the toytec shackles with the poly bushings. Im stumped and the truck is still on jack stands!!

Put a little grease or dish soap on them. They are pretty tight.

Yeah they can be a little fun for sure. Install the poly first, and then the internal sleeve.

Yes, the metal sleeve needs to come out with the OE bushing

Your removed bushings should look like this.

Others are right, you may have just removed the old bushing that separated from the outer metal sleeve. Happens to a lot of folks - you can sawzall the sleeve out if needed.

Sorry to laugh, but this is funny because I "pushed" out the stock bushings this weekend (2018 truck). It took three hours with a c-frame press rented from the local parts store (glad that wasn't my tool), and "earth-quake" impact tool. I'm not sure I would do that again. That was an eye opener even with torch and lube and iteration... I guarantee if I just setup the tool and kept hammering, then the tool (or something) would have broken violently.
If you were able to get the stock bushings out then you would be very intimate with the design, and the new poly bushings go in like butter if they are the appropriate bushings.
I recommend the sawzall method if you pushed out the inner rubber portion and the outer metal sleeve remains.
let's see some pics of the party in current state :)

I used this with a 28mm socket....worked in about one minute after taking an hour with the ball joint press

I removed them on my 2013 at 94K miles and they came right out. On my 2020, they were a pain in the ass. They did not want to cooperate. :annoyed:

Putting in new shackles and of course the driver side leaf spring bolt/bushing is seized. The bolt is rusted in their tight. I’ll have to cut it out, nothing has worked to get the shackle bolt out.

where are folks getting their new bushings? I didn’t order any for the springs with the anticipation that I wouldn’t have a problem getting the bolts out. Somewhat in a rush as well.

Throw some PB blaster on it? You can get the poly bushings from several places: Coachbuilder, Boss Off-road, Toytec.
