Poll need some advice

So here's my truck

I plan to make the dual exhaust black. Do they make a high temp bed liner type coating that looks like linex to match my side steps and bed cover that I can paint my exhaust tips with? Any help is appreciated.

If u don't know the answer to the above question that's fine, u can still vote below. I'm looking for votes on whether I should leave it alone as is, paint the rivets black on fender flares and or bed cover?

I’ve seen people use high heat paint in a rattle can for the exhaust tips.

 

Leave it alone bro..you got the chrome tips, chrome rivets, and some chrome accent on the diamondback...Not crazy chrome just enough to balance everything out..Chrome lives matter

That's a lot of work for the rivets.....

 

leave it alone....over done = overdone, accents are fine. Fix the big scratch on the middle of your doors... just kidding, but pic displays what looks to be a big fat one.

No big scratch, just a reflection in pic. Like u said, if it was I'd be more concerned with that over painting tiny bit of chrome.

 

Thanks so far guys, don't let me discourage anyone from keeping the votes coming. There's times the little chrome rivets don't bother me and tie in nicely with the bed cover rivets. Other times they get under my skin. That's literally the only chrome on my truck, so that's why I was thinking I should just do total delete. I'm very happy with the way my truck sits now and don't feel the need to change it, that's why I'm asking try and get others opinion on it. Ultimately I always do my own thing but getting a little help, knowledge ,and opinion from others can help in a decision. Tnx so far guys.

 

@mgm16trdpro I Rattle can my tips with high heat paint from Auto store or home depot Lowe's and I took my rivets off n painted mine a satin black

 

I don't know how to do all that fancy stuff. Oh wait here it is, the poll instruction says to just vote like everyone else has so far lol

 

Go for it with the exhaust tips, mine looks great. Ground chrome off, self etching primer, and epoxy coat(paint).

I have the oem pro dual exhaust. Not sure how labor intensive it would be to do. I was hoping they could be left on, scratched up, primed, and rattle canned. I don't think I have the skills to do it myself if I had to separate from rest of exhaust. I don't trust myself not breaking it and therefore prob wouldn't do if I had to do it that way.

Looks great. Tnx for pic. Based on just looks got me leaning toward doing myself. Then I'd have to see how hard to make happen on my setup.

I wouldn't mess with the rivets, that would be a lot of work. I would also leave the exhaust tips the way they are, but if you do want them black and textured I would use black wrinkle finish paint which is heat resistant (your tips really don't get all that hot anyway). You actually are supposed to bake the paint to get the best wrinkle effect and durability.

Free advice from me, don't do what I did! I painted the valve covers for one of my cars with black wrinkle paint and baked them in the kitchen oven. The paint came out great and my wife was really pi$$ed because the smell wasn't gone by the time she came back from the mall. I won't do that again!

 

Ya but you got your covers painted, sometimes it worth the grief.

 

If you ever diced to get it dirty chrome cleans easer.

 

I know the linex bed cover and side steps I got clean real easy and show no streaks. It don't get any easier to clean on my truck than those 2 spots. If the paint was anything like that, it would be great. I wouldn't have to worry bout wiping water marks off the chrome tips anymore. I am guilty of keeping my truck squeaky clean. Don't mind getting it dirty, long as i can clean it off soon after lol.

 

Paint rivets but leave exhaust alone...

 

Linex is probably a really good choice for the tip just for that reason

 

Full disclosure, I haven't started the de-chrome process on my truck yet. But, I've been planning it out in my mind. I've been debating blacking out the chrome rivets on my flares also. But, it seems like a ton of work for a small amount of return. I think I've decided not to be terribly arsed by a small amount of accent.
With that said, I like the idea of blacked out tips.

Messing with your OCD. I think the truck looks good as is. Maybe do the rivets on the flares only

 

I rid myself of the chrome lugs already lol. I mean I already got so very little chrome, that's why I was thinking just make it all disappear. I can then say I literally have zero chrome. Truck will be mgm, black, and couple red accents.

 

I used VHT paint to paint mine a few months ago. I had to scuff up the chrome a bit. I don't have any current pics, but so far it has held up well.

 

Is chrome a shade of Gray?
