Where do I even begin... About 3 months ago, I was losing coolant pretty badly. I ended up just taking it to the stealership, and $2,000 later, I drove out with a new radiator and some new hoses. Soon after that, I began having a slight overheating issue, called up the dealership within 2 or 3 days of having the radiator replaced, and told them what was going on. They told me it would be a $200 diagnostic fee to bring the truck back in o_O. I won't name the dealership, but I recently found out they have forged Carfax reports for every single person I know who has bought a vehicle there. So that's a little fun fact. Maybe I'll tell that story another day. But obviously, I decided to try to chase this overheating problem down myself. The issue was, after driving on the highway for 15 mins or so, 75mph about 1900rpm, the temp gauge would start climbing to about 3/4 to the red zone. My Bluedriver said it was about 225ºF. I ended up doing a fan clutch and, you guessed it, still overheating. Today I did the thermostat and had an interesting find. Segments of the radiator cap from the old radiator were lodged in the thermostat and one of the coolant hoses. I got all the segments that I could find, put the truck back together, and took it for a test drive. It seems that this issue has come to a close. She's running at a steady 190ºF. I've included pictures below. After a little research, this seems to be a relatively common problem. If this post helps anybody, PLEASE let me know. It would make my year. Anyways, If anybody wants to hear about the forged Carfaxes, maybe I'll name the dealership so nobody else falls victim to them. IMG_7171.jpg IMG_7169.jpg IMG_7170.jpg

Sounds like whoever got forged carfax reports needs to notify a governing body immediately before they do any more damage to consumers. If they are willing to doctor carfax’s what about vin numbers or or service quotes?

Damn... I'm glad mine got jammed in the radiator. I found it when my pump failed and I had to pull the rad for damage. As soon as I flipped it out it came, but I had already changed the cap a while ago.
