IMG_7641.png IMG_7642.png 2008 4.7l tundra, base. Before I bought it, there was a bypass installed which I believe is designed to fool the Air injection pump system into thinking it is a cold start, and thus not starting the AIP system at all. However, recently my truck has had trouble starting, and it has started dying at idle, and has died once at highway speeds(~70 mph). Mechanic says a relay that is part of that bypass is clicking when the truck starts, and is unwilling to look at it farther. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening? Should I just rip everything out and go back to OEM? Should I keep digging? I have been to the dealership, they wouldn’t go any farther than this mechanic. The photos attached is the only thing I could find that is maybe what my bypass system is. Thank you in advance for any possible help.

With what you've given and what the technicians said I would say it would be wise to remove the bypass and the block off plates added. In theory if you remove just the plates and the relay powering the bypass you should be good.
