When I had my Tacoma I plastidiped the wheels with them on. It was PITA to cover the disc brakes and calipers. If I do it again I’d take them off.

I sprayed my wheels recently with them on, would probably take them off next time. Just easier to get all the angles covered.

I have the wheels un mounted. Sounds like tires off is the route to go.

I did mine with them on. Wasn't bad at all. I did roll the truck back to rotate the wheels once. You need them standing up anyway for the sprayer to work so no reason to remove them. Plus it just risks damaging your fresh dip job when putting them back on
I used index cards to block the tires but you can probably get away with dip release or carefully over applied tire shine so it's easier to peel.

Oh I just saw you don't have tires on the wheels you're planning to dip.

I would be very concerned that the dip will be damaged when putting the tires back on. I'm 99% sure it will get fucked up.

Since you have the tires off, if you can afford it and 2 days of downtime....get the wheels powder coated.

My advice is done dip wheels without tires mounted.

Agreed with both points - the dip will absolutely get screwed up by the mounting machine. I've got the TVD Vinyl overlays on mine, which are more durable than PD, and they got pretty nicked up when my tires were put on. I would go the powder coat route if you have the time and cash for it.

It will definitely get torn off when you put rubber on rim. Speaking from personal experience. Use note cards around rim and take rims off car (w/tires on rim) if at all possible. Otherwise use note cards as above and plastic inside rim over brake system.

Post up before and after pics to brag and you'll be all set. (Go many coats starting very light and first)

Agreed, I had PD because I wasn’t sure I wanted my wheels black permanently. I’d probably powder coat down the line.
