I did some search’s but didn’t find any posts.
Has anyone installed a cb in first gen?
Looking for ideas without having to put screws in dash or mess up anything.

Thinking about installing my cb I used when I drove semi’s in the tundra.

I’m thinking somewhere in this area but. Don’t really want to put screw hole on it either.

I used a midland handheld unit in my corvette with a licence plate mounted firestick.

A good antenna will get you good resultas and you don't have to mount anything on your dash.

I only got about 2 miles in the vette, but that was due to no ground plane.

Last weekend I mounted a molle panel on the passenger side of the center console and then mounted a CB radio to that. I'll take a couple photos tomorrow morning.
Here are a couple photos I already posted of just the molle panel.

I've considered something like that for when (and if) the wife and I are able to get a dump truck. Since the Tundra would also go out as a support truck (to haul the tools), a CB would be a lot more convenient than using the cell phones.

However, it's pretty hilly around here so I wouldn't get much range.....

Got this aluminum molle designed for a sunvisor on Amazon at the end of last year for $18 but now it appears to be $24. I thought there were two panels in the box but according to the listing it only includes one. I thought this was a better deal than the $40 -100 molle panels with poor finishes that I was seeing for truck interiors.

I second the Midland handheld. The convenience of portability is nice.
Yeah I know know about cell service in WV, I've seen the Wrong Turn movies

Zip tied the bracket for now and I still need to get a cig lighter plugin for power. I want to keep the radio semi portable.

    Good job. Looks good.
I’m going to have to dig mine out of storage, and see what I’m up against.

I've got a Cobra 19 Mini, takes up very little space. My antenna is a Little Wil magnet mount.

I noticed a "PA" mode....do you have a loudspeaker to use that?

Wife and I could use a PA.....hollering at each other across a yard, above the din of machines and our ear protection....not the best way to communicate.

If only there was a hand held device that you could keep in your pocket to maybe type messages on to each other. Maybe one that could vibrate to alert you that you've received a message...

So you mean stop the tractor on the side of the steep hill so you can type?

Take those gloves off, the ones covered in tree sap, so you can then handle that $1,000 dollar device so fragile one drop cracks the glass?

Handle that device while in tall grass, briars, mud.......handle that?

You mean do this in WV where cell service comes and goes and in valleys, doesn't exist at all?

You mean "feel that vibration" over the vibration of the engine / weedeater / chainsaw?

    LOL

A PA would be nice. Some limited use....I'd like to hook us up with some earpiece coms but we manage.

No PA speaker. That switch must have gotten bumped when I pulled the radio out my rolled Jeep last year. I really have only used a CB a few times in the last 20 years. Last time was last summer in the pine barrens in south Jersey where cell phone coverage is spotty. It took me a over a year to install in my FGT.

I haven't but Eliza Dushku is almost worth the watch of anything. Almost. ;)

Trying to think here...we have had two mowing and one weeding clients where there was zero cell service.

    Woah!!
Talk about a blast from the past!!!
Remember when CB's became very popular after Smokey and the Bandit!!
Bought one for my Mother when She was going back and forth from Houston and Dallas years back.
The Truckers being the Horndogs they were and are were more than happy to help out a Woman!!!
Me? I/We used them while offroading.
We normally just talked Shit back and forth but they were useful while on the road to our next off roading adventure.
