Anyone have any feed back for the Pedal Commander?

It gets mostly good reviews. It seems like a decent option to tame the sensitive accelerator in our newly acquired 2007 5.7L and maybe get a little better gas mileage. I am not looking for increased performance that Hypertech or Bully Dog can offer. For $300, still a bit high for what I want but have not seen anything for less with good or decent reviews.

 

At that price it’s worth it to get a BullyDog. I can send kne for $380 free shipping.

 

I think at that price you may as well go for the BullyDog and have all the extra features available in case you get a wild hair one day.

 

Doesn't the BD void the warranty and/or risk messing up the computer?

I can totally see your point for B.D. But I am very doubtful I will ever get that wild hair. My soon to be 16 yr old who will be driving this truck and possibly on to college does not need to know about or have access to a Performance enhancer. I am looking for something simple like the P.C., "plug and play", and only change as needed if ever.

I need to understand the B.D. more. I do not want to spend much time with it, set-up etc.

 

Update: Went ahead and ordered the Pedal Commander for our 07 5.7l. Agreed with arguments about price and getting a real tuner for another $100 or so. The simplicity of this device and what I wanted to achieve is what attracted me. There is also a 30 day money back guarantee and got for $270 with free shipping.
Installation very easy, maybe 3 minutes. Disconnecting the throttle cable harness was the hardest part. 4 easy mode selections with 9 levels in each mode. Definite differences noticed between modes, level differences barely noticeable if at all. The best part, the Eco mode achieves my goal of smoothing out the accelerator, no more "herky jerky" whiplash affect when taking off. It also takes more pedal to get up to 40, 50, or 60 mph, before you were there very quickly. As mentioned, my almost 16 yr old who will be driving this truck can and will be driving around much more smoothly and less likely to be getting into accidents or getting speeding tickets. Also has to be better on gas mileage.
I am also able to hide the device. he doesn't know it's there. (yet) lol
When testing the other modes, the Sport+ mode was impressive. Not sure if equal to beast mode, if not I bet it is close.

 

I got a BD Platinum GT ($500 CDN) on my 13 TT CM PL and two years before I traded it to my 2018 TT and gave no problem at all with 15.5 mpg. And I believe that my BD is still compatible to my 18 TT (I'm not sure).

The reason I'm getting the PC on my 18 is not rev but having a good gas mileage. And yes, it's a bit expensive ($380 CDN) for a throttle mod only, but I'm hoping that the easy install/uninstall and good mileage will pay it off.

I will give an update from time to time.

 

Do you have a MPG update? Does it improve it at all?

 

Unfortunately no update. Our Tundra is a 3rd vehicle that my son is driving 80% of the time, and all city driving. I need to check the mileage, have been forgetting to, only filling up about every 2-3 weeks.
I will try and get an update, it may be a few weeks.

 

I dont blame you.. If I had to fill up every 2-3 weeks I would not care either. Filling up every 5 days just for work sucks.

 

The Bully Dog BDX seems to promise the world, without a lot of details. How much horsepower and torque gain? What effect could that have on the longevity of my truck? How much fuel mileage improvement? Does that mileage gain come with a loss of performance? I also see the device is "married" to a single vehicle, making it (at $400 each) pretty much cost prohibitive if you own more than that.

 

There is an integrated clip in the harness. requires a squeeze and pull. a flashlight was handy to see.
