Hoping someone will have answer to my goofy door lock question.

I have a 2009 CrewMax Ltd 5.7 if it helps.

I took my truck to the dealer to get the leaky evaporator replaced. A week later I noticed that when my son opened the passenger door, I would hear a click on my side of the truck. When he closed the door I hear two clicks. I took it by the dealer because they didn’t place the hood release cable back correctly after they reinstalled the dash.

I asked about the door noises and they said I had a bad switch. This noise only occurs from opening or closing the passenger front door. I have seen problems with the actuators but couldn’t find anything on the switch.

The door will lock and unlock with the driver side control button or the key fob but pass side door switch does not work.

I pulled the cover off and disconnected the plug from the switch. I took my continuity tester and put the leads on the switch pins. It would change when I pressed the lock or unlock so does that mean the switch is good?

I’m assuming the actuator is working and getting power since it works from the other sources.

Is there a better way to test the door switch?

    Thanks in advance.

Make sure the cables are installed correctly, completely seated and clipped into to the handle.

Thanks Shawn. I will double check again.

I guess I need to also check if I am getting power on the female side of the harness. I’m not sure if there is another harness connection behind the dash that may be unplugged.

YOU need to tell the dealership about this (if it took place after their repairs) and see if it is something they did wrong while repairing your ride.

It would take 5 minutes to take the panel off and see if everything is installed properly; personally I wouldn’t waste the time to take it back to the dealership if it’s an easy fix. If you get the panel off and see that everything is installed correctly and it still isn’t functioning properly, replace the panel and set an appointment with the dealership.
