The keys could be sitting somewhere or in my pocket and the panic alarm will start going off. Any ideas on what it could be?

Make sure your dome lights and map lights are shut off when the door closes. Otherwise the alarm will go off every 10 or 15 minutes.

Everything shuts off. Like today, I started pumping gas, keys were in my pocket, I hopped back into the truck and the alarm started going off. The last time, I just got done washing it, locked the door then started walking away then the alarm went off

This same kinda thing has happened to me. I have noticed though that the Key fob is very delicate while in your pocket. If I turn the wrong way or lift my leg or sit down a certain way it has thrown off the alarm. Not sure but, it is annoying when it happens.

Yup. Happens to me on occasions. Usually at a gas station when I’m in the bathroom or something.

On a related note.. do these things have interior motion sensors that trigger the alarm? Can they be turned off?

The Toyota key fob is poorly designed such that buttons are pushed simply by pressure of your cloth pants pocket against the surface of the fob. I've had the doors lock by bending down with my keys in my pocket. I haven't had the panic alarm go off...that would be annoying.

I can't say what's been added for 2019, but motion sensors were not used through 2017, and are unlikely to be used since it would be redundant. If an intruder could somehow be locked inside the vehicle, he is going to set the alarm off when he exits the vehicle. A motion sensor is only going to alarm a few minutes earlier.

Glass breakage sensors are used, but I don't think they are standard on lower trim levels. Again, the alarm system is only going off a few seconds earlier, unless the thief has time and opportunity to climb in the broken window without opening the door. The hope is the noise will scare the thief away...if the truck is setting in your driveway with you inside your house, that will probably work.

The alarm is set off by opening a door or the hood (or glass broken if so equipped) after the alarm is armed, which occurs 30 seconds after the doors are locked. More detail in the owner's manual.

I clip my keys on my belt loop. I always had a problem with every vehicle putting the keys in my pocket. Either I would kill the battery or I hit panic, sometimes even unlocking vehicles if the keys are in my pocket. Simple fix was to get a clip to put them on my belt loop.

Push button start/passive entry will probably end this particular problem. But, it will bring new associated headaches from Toyota trying to optimize the reception range for locking/unlocking (about 7-10 feet on previous equipped vehicles) and "start authorization". I discovered on my C6 Vette that it made a difference in which pants pocket I kept the fob. The receiver was located near base of driver side A pillar as I recall...if I had the fob in my right front pants pocket, start authorization might be inconsistent. If I kept it in my left front pants pocket, it worked fine.

Do those cars still have a key in case the battery dies in the car? Just so you can unlock the door to get in and pop the hood?

Yes. The Corvette had a standard key that attached to the fob. There was another emergency mechanical release to the hatch that wasn't widely publicized. Even if you were able to get inside the Corvette, theft of the vehicle would still be problematic; a thief would need to overcome the immobilizer. My wife's new Honda Insight has an emergency key stored inside the fob.

I took it to AutoZone and they told me the alternator was going bad. Ever since then I have not had any issues. I might just change the battery in the key fob and see if that does it but until then I'm just gonna ride it out and see what happens

I have noticed a couple of times when I shut the driver side rear door that it would go off. Should I mention I have a subwoofer in the back?

I was thinking of disconnecting the battery to see if that kind of "resets" it
