Took my 2019 Tundra dash out to paint the chrome ac vent rings and the small trim piece that runs across the dash.

Sanded using 400 + burgundy pads. Added automotive adhesion promotion, flashed it for 10 min and added a second coat.

Flashed that for 10 min and added rustoleum 2x ultra cover primer gray. Flashed that for 1hr and added a second coat. Let sit for 48hrs.

Will lightly wet sand primer with 1500

Next I'll spray max 1k fill clean that will flash 1st coat 5 min, 2nd coat 5 min, last coat 15min.

Then apply spray max 2k clear glamor, flash 3 coats at 5 min each. Let dry for 24hrs.

After 24hrs the clear coat can be cut and polished.

    Question (finally I know).
Will I really notice on such small pieces if I don't 3k wet sand and then buff this stuff? I don't want to screw up the final step, but does it make a real difference on these small parts?

Quick update - Rings turned out good but the rest of the dash trim turned out like crap.

    SO....

I took out the door silver trim pieces and found a body shop that would paint interior plastics.

All 7 pieces (4 door pieces + 3 dash pieces) should be color matched 3R3 by next week.

All done. Very happy with how it turned out. Looks and sounds like a whole new truck.
