Paint chip under tailgate release

Sadly Toyota repainted my tailgate on a 2024 Tundra because the paint under the release was chipping and it has chipped again within a few days. Back at the dealership once more and in another loaner. Disappointed that there was no shim or gasket placed underneath the handle to avoid this. Crappy work I say. Second paint job on the tailgate ongoing, and very disappointing. Please check your tailgate handle housing for signs of defects. Will post pic after second paint job.

 

This seems common for some new tundra’s. Some have posted new trucks on the lots with this paint chipping. Luckily mine hasn’t chipped yet. Bought late September 2023.

 

Thanks Northern Toyota. Hopeful this is the last fix and they get it right.

 

The trouble is they don’t fix the problem so it’ll inevitably happen again.
