    Hey all, my truck is throwing a single transmission code, P2714 "Pressure Control Solenoid D Performance / Stuck Off." The VSC Off light is also flashing.

    When I first start the truck cold and shift into reverse, most of the time it does not shift into reverse and will behave as if it's in neutral (sometimes it actually will go into reverse). However, when I shift into Drive and drive for a while and let the truck warm up, then try to reverse, it works fine. The truck also will not shift past 3rd gear for about the first quarter mile while it's cold/still warming up. After driving for about a quarter or half mile, it will shift normally.

    I have drained the ATF pan, refilled with OEM fluid, and checked that it's at the correct level, and there has been no change.

    I am planning to change the solenoid for a new OEM one to see if that fixes the issue (which I believe is the SLT solenoid, Toyota part number 35290-34010). Does anyone else have any insights or advice?

    I am in the Jacksonville, Florida area. If anyone happens to know of any reputable transmission shops around, that would also be appreciated!

    There is a decent chance it is the slt solenoid. However, the ecu only sees the effect and not the cause. It makes a best guess as to the cause with its limited data. The ecu is guessing that the miss shifting is due to low pressure and probably correct. Though valve body wear, pump wear and other things can also cause low pressure.

    if i were in your shoes, I would pull the slt and test it on the bench or just replace it. They are only $100. Go to rock auto and get the rostra brand. They are likely where toyota gets them from.

    i had codes for both the slt and the c solenoid. Only the latter was defective in my case. I tested both on the bench and only replaced the bad one. The ecu throws the slt code for most any failure like that. That only means it is a suspect not a confirmed cause. The ecu is not a mechanic. It is a lot like us internet guys that read a few symptoms and start throwing out causes even though we haven’t done any detailes diagnostics.

    Going to have to disagree with that, at least for the older models or those used in rust belt. I have removed A LOT of rusty fasteners, so quite experienced. I snapped 6 of the 12 bolts after spending hours with heat and care trying to remove them. It took 2 hours to address the trans problem, but well over a day drilling and tapping for heli coils addressing the crappy design flaw. They were so seized that even an easy out wouldn't budge them even after heating with MAPP. Every other trans pan I have pulled used blind holes in the case to avoid this issue. These are steel bolts in aluminum bodies. If you have regular contact with moisture, it rapidly accelerates galvanic corrosion. Add salt and it is even worse. Shame on you toyota.

    If the pan has been off many times, I am sure this is easy. But if it hasn't been off in 15 years, be ready for problems.

    Thanks for all the helpful and hopeful info. And yeah, I'm hoping that the pan bolts come out without issue. I have no idea if it has ever been off, but there is no rust on the frame at all due to it being a Florida truck. Crossing my fingers!
