I applied P & S Bead Maker to my truck a little over three weeks ago, and here are my thoughts so far.

    P&S Detailing Products C250P - Bead Maker Paint Protectant ( 1 Pint ) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779KCS7D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_SJ6NBb2CJDGZW

On August 25th, I washed my truck, used CarPro Eraser, and applied the Bead Maker as a final step. I’ll be for the most part comparing it to Carpro Reload, as that has been my sealant of choice since I got into detailing.

    Pic after I was finished:

    6AC0B6FC-FC2E-44E5-A190-B9D0AF762233.jpg

Hard to tell from a picture, but the product put a very nice shine on the truck. The surface was also extremely slick. More than I’ve experienced with any other product I’ve tried. Hard to explain, but very cool. It spreads very well, very light wiping needed. Some products I’ve tried were very thick, and more difficult to even out. This product is thicker than Reload, but not as bad as others.

Here is where the slickness comes into play. A week later, we got some rain overnight. I went outside to see how it beaded, and found that there was no water at all on the truck. Here is a pic of my daughter’s truck that morning, followed by mine. I had washed hers the same day, but didn’t put any coating on it. It had been coated with Reload in the past, but I didn’t put any on it this time.

    BDD0F486-21F4-469B-B662-F165CA796769.jpg F8E4862A-532E-4F4C-8F8D-46C6BCD32B7E.jpg

As you can see, hers had a good bit of water beading on it, which is generally what we are hoping for with a sealant. Mine, on the other hand, was bone dry. These pictures were taken in the same driveway, at the same time. I had not driven or dried mine. This was what I saw when I came out the door. These trucks were parked right next to each other, and got the same amount of rain the night before.

Apparently the Bead Maker had prevented any of the rain from sticking to the truck.

It rained pretty regularly over the last three weeks, so I hadn’t been able to wash my truck again. Three weeks is actually a very long time for me to go without washing it. I usually at least do a rinseless wash every week. As the owner of a black truck, this is almost required to keep it looking nice.

That said, here is what it looked like before I washed it yesterday. It still actually looked pretty decent:

    C1456892-8F02-4128-BD98-6F2C84AB174B.jpg

    2CA0866C-CC3B-4391-B630-2C093868DB4A.jpg

As you can see, it is somewhat dirty, but anyone who has a black vehicle can tell you that this is not normal. It generally looks much worse than that three days later, much less three weeks. Add in that I drove in rain and on wet roads nearly every day during that time, it should have been filthy. Driving through rain one time usually leaves the sides caked in dirt and mud. After the weather we’ve had lately, it normally would be horrible.

It seems the Bead Maker does an outstanding job of keeping dirt and mud from sticking.

    Pics after initial rinse:

    830F0ACE-7C09-4CDB-9282-5A4584FBCB82.jpg
    A0EE7E17-2E8C-4A16-A21C-5193FA0581A1.jpg

Still a good bit of beading after three weeks on the hood and top. The sides were less so, but still were pretty hydrophobic.

I ran out of daylight, so didn’t get any pics when I was done washing, but it cleaned up very nicely. I usually go back over it with a quick detailer to shine it up after a wash, but it didn’t seem necessary. It probably never is, but I’m pretty heavy handed with products.

Pricing. This product is MUCH cheaper than Reload, especially per gallon.

    Bead Maker - $12.99 a half liter, $34.99 a gallon. (Amazon)

    Reload - $34.99 a half liter, $220.00 a gallon. (Sky’s The Limit Car Care)

That said, it takes a LOT more Bead Maker to do your truck than Reload does. Per the manufacturer’s videos, you need to “flood” your vehicle with Bead Maker. They even say to the point that it is running. @driverdog tried some Bead Maker before he knew you were supposed to use so much, and wasn’t impressed. I don’t know if he’s done another test using more.

With Reload, you just mist the panel. It takes very little product to do its job. I’ve even read that it is recommended to use Reload at a 1:1 dilution on darker colored cars, but I’ve never diluted it.

Following manufacturer’s instructions, it takes pretty much an entire 500ml bottle to coat a Tundra. With Reload, it may take MAYBE 10-20% of the same size bottle.

Because of this, though the initial price has a wide gap, the overall cost of use may be better with Reload.

Overall, I’m very impressed with P&S Bead Maker. It is a very good product, and kept my truck looking very good through 3 weeks of driving in nasty conditions. As some of you know, I love Reload very much, and that hasn’t changed. I can’t recommend it enough, especially when used in a quick detail mix.

That said, in a year or more of using Reload heavily, it hasn’t done the same job of keeping dirt and mud from sticking to the truck. When I talked about how filthy my truck would be after driving in these conditions, that was when coated with Reload. It just doesn’t do what the Bead Maker did when it comes to that.

I also suspect the Reload has more longevity, but that remains to be seen. I will update this when I really start noticing the Bead Maker wearing off.

One final note: I recently got the Microfiber Madness Incredipole:

    https://www.carpro-us.com/wheels-trim/microfiber-madness-incredipole-new/

    7257A100-C8C6-4ABD-9498-66EC8F2669DB.jpg

This thing is great. It is very handy for the top of the truck, the windshield, and tonneau cover. It saved me from using a ladder to reach those spots. It’s a little pricey, but I’ve used cheaper ones that didn’t hold up, and the microfiber part wasn’t good quality. I highly recommend this product.

Thank you for reading. I hope it was worth your time. Let me know if there are any questions.

Great write up. I bought me a gallon of this stuff last week, and I found it for $32 delivered. Looks like we may have a slight break from rain so hopefully I'll get a chance to try it this week.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing a second opinion on it.

I have seen the price fluctuate quite a bit on Amazon. It was over $50.00 the week after I bought it.

One note: if ordering from Amazon, it actually ships from Autogeek, so you may save a bit going straight to them.

Thanks for the review. Love Bead Maker. Check out Obsessed Garage's review on YouTube. If it is goo enough for Matt, then it has to be good.

It’s 1 guy, Matt Morman (sp?). He obsesses about everything and ran across Bead Maker while at the Rag Company HQ and they introduced him to it. He was blown away. Anyway, good channel to subscribe.

Yea Bead Maker seems to be getting a lot of attention across the internet apparently, not just with the OG crew. I haven’t bought into it yet, but I haven’t tried it. Watching Matt’s videos of applying and how labor intensive it was (for a spray wax essentially) just doesn’t appeal to me, but agreed, performance must be good for his stamp of approval.

    Great review!
I can't wait to try this out. It's been raining on and off for over a week, except the past 2 days which I worked 14 hrs each day. Looks like hurricane remains are rolling in on us now for the next few days. So I have my fingers crossed that after that I can try it out

Reapplied a couple of days ago after applying Hydro2 first. I think this combo gave it a more glossy / wet appearance than before.

The beadmaker looks right but the reload I have does not look like that. Maybe they changed bottle design thoug? @War Machine ?

Yes, those are the right products. Carpro redesigned their labels a week or two ago.
Monet, are you planning to use those together? It’s an either/or thing for those two. If you are wanting to do the combo I did, change the Reload out for Hydro2. Put Hydro2 on first, then Beadmaker.

The Hydro2 is expensive. You can use Gyeon Wetcoat in it’s place to save some money, though Hydro2 is cheaper in the long run:

Jason, so I can clean with Maguires, use the Hydro2 then flood it with Beadmaker? You were using Reload as a maintenance sort of spray after this? Maybe I didn’t read that right.. poems know.

Yeah, clean however you want. Use Hydro2, then apply Beadmaker.

As for Reload, it is what I was using before Beadmaker. It’s still a great product, and can be used instead of Beadmaker. Beadmaker is just more glossy, and cheaper. @Pudge also recently tried Beadmaker after using Reload in the past. He can give you a second opinion. He may like Reload better.

As for maintenance spray, you can use any quick detailer if you want. I just wash again and reapply Beadmaker. (Well, that’s what I did a couple of times. I’m constantly trying new stuff, so there’s no telling what I have on it at any given time. The Hydro2/Beadmaker combo is pretty much my favorite though.)

Look into Optimum No Rinse or Carpro Ech20 also. They make for a quick and easy wash.

What about Punch It from Shine Supply, should I make that part of the mix anywhere, or wait to see how this Hydro2 and Beadmaker turn out first?

Try the Hydro2 and Beadmaker. I’ve only had Punch It on for a few days, and don’t know how long it lasts yet.
The Punch It is interesting because it has some different qualities, but I think you’ll find the other combo more impressive. It’s crazy how it looks and feels.

Make sure you get the concentrated Hydro2, not the Lite. This is the link to the right one. It’s expensive, but the bottle will last at least a couple of years. You shouldn’t have to apply it any more often than every 3 months at the most.

You will need to dilute it: 1 part Hydro2 to 6 parts distilled water.

    Hydro2 Touchless Silica Sealant 500 ml. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FQN556A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_V7d5BbN1MF3DX

I’d apply Hydro2 maybe every three months, and Beadmaker maybe once a month. Beadmaker will last longer than that, but once a month will keep it at maximum effectiveness. I tend to go overkill with my products.

Yeah, well shit, overkill is not in the vocabulary for OCD folks!
I'll be working on this soon, I have my first road trip to AZ right after Thanksgiving, and it will be cold and may be rainy so would be a good test on the gravel/dirt roads where I'll be.

And like I said, Gueon Wetcoat can be used in Hydro2’s place. It’s equally effective. It’s cheaper up front, and comes ready to apply with no dilution necessary. Hydro2 comes out ahead in the long run, since an equal amount goes at least six times as far. It just costs more up front.

Wetcoat is under 20 bucks a bottle, and Hydro2 is over 50.

If you want to get real about it, we can talk about decontaminating your paint before you use these products....

Like you said, if it equals out, just depends on how much money is in one's pocket at the time.
I'm realizing if I move a cabinet in my garage I can get the truck in with lots more room to work around. You think doing all this in out of the sun is a good idea?

Damn, you are reading my thoughts! I was going to ask about correction, but maybe that's two different procedures....I'm sure you'll tell me!

You absolutely need to do this all out of the sun. That is very important. You can’t let any of this dry on your paint. The Beadmaker is the only step you could do in a garage though. The others require spraying water.
Either do it before the sun comes fully up, or at dusk if doing at home. I find the easiest thing to do is to take the vehicle to one of those self service wash bays. Carry your stuff down there with you. Only use their pressure washer, not their soap or for god’s sake their brush.

Paint correction and decontaminating are two different things? Decon will take away other products on the paint, sounds like I'd need acid to do that. Correction, sounds like for an expert and a few hours to do...
