TLDR: A 2022 escape is worth 20-25% less then others since it has a blemish on its carfax even though its clean/no accident/personal lease/ 1 owner - due to a long block replacement

Question regardless if you had your engine replaced under warranty, shortblock/longblock or paid out of pocket.

I am curious what carfax is listing it as.

I am currently shopping for a phev, and was researching used tuscons and escapes, found a top level titanium trim escape for 7-10k under market value, clean 1 owner, clean title, no accidents personal lease, carfax - why is it like 7k cheaper then others and this is the top trim?

well carfax shows, this unit got some customer satisfactory recall - meaning it wasnt even fully neccessary (just quickly googling the recall program # on the maverick/escapes forums)

The big kicker is Ford is giving 10/100k, so why hasnt Toyota stepped up? This recall expands quite a few years so they have some other thing of 7/31/25 if your past that 10/100k.

If you dive into their forums, its like we are all on same boat, some machine debris which causes engine to malfunction and blow up, same speal of Ford took a while to do a massive engine recall but its now here, but theirs is a customer service request, not a actual recall.

This immediately startled me, because the vehicle i wanted to buy basically had a huge red flag on its carfax report - and it wasnt even a full recall a customer service request that Ford approved, and it tanked the value of the vehicle easily 20-25% versus the same car which does not have this listed on their carfax

    This expands over 125k engines
