Has anyone replaced the glass in outside mirrors . My wife hit a mail box and shattered mirror glass , housing is fine . I have seen how to replace 2nd gen , but nothing on 3rd gen .
When I put my cracked one back in it just pushed in with force .
I am not sure if I did it correct or not . I have ordered a new glass and wanted to make sure I removed the old one correctly and placed the new one correctly as not to break something else

I am not sure if you push up from bottom of glass or just pull straight off

    Yeah, why?
Pic/step #9 in my unrelated thread:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/how...-puddle-light-installation-and-wiring.122757/

Removal/installation is similar to previous year models.
When in doubt - YT it first (plus you have nothing to worry about since your mirror is already busted up, so you can't really break it any more when removing it). Obviously just be careful installing new glass, pushing in evenly and no cracking the new one. :)

The older generation u push up on bottom of mirror glass to remove the 3rd generation appears to be a straight push pull . I maybe wrong , that is why asked about anybody removing just the mirror glass .
When it was hit the mirror glass was hanging by the wires . I just shoved it back in forcefull and it went in.
I am not sure if that was correct way to remove it or to lift up from bottom .
I was in a panic side of road putting back in so I didn’t spend a lot of time studying

Ok I just replace mirror glass purchase toyota dealer . you just pry glass straight out . Disconnect 2 wires and one connector which the hard part had to push black keeper down and pry connector out , helps to have extra set of hands . then just push new glass straight in with some force clips in .
no pushing up from bottom needed different design from older models I guess . works perfect

One piece of advice from me, don’t go to PartsGeek. I had to for mirror glass for my 17 Platinum, just one side, which meant an easy comparison to the other (original glass) side. The one I received from PG first had some sort of blemish that caused that prism/rainbow look in the glass, right in the middle. Very small, but noticeable enough and I’m weird in that I figure I should get new and unblemished goods when I buy brand new. Also, the BSM light on the PG one didn’t fully illuminate to look like a car, like my stock one. It still lights, I can see when another car comes up from it, but it’s lighter, not a full icon, and again, why not gimme good products?

I emailed several times and received nothing. I figure the next step is a BBB complaint.
