I was having this conversation with my neighbor yesterday (he doesn't have kids). My 9 year old is very involved in taekwondo and our studio never closed down. Went online last March and it was opened back up limited in June (following all the rules). It was rough not being in school for basically a year, but he still got a ton of that personal interaction kids crave. Also, he never stopped doing anything outdoors with his friends. If we did not have the TKD outlet for him, I think he really would have struggled as well. And, I totally get the hard to motivate... outside of TKD and Fortnite there really isn't much that gets him excited right now.

We went back to school in early April and it has been good for both my kids. Schooling from home worked, but they both missed their friends. Even my son who’s motivated by nothing wanted to get back in class.

We have elderly family members close by and were very cautious. My daughter really struggled seeing some of her friends forming “closed groups” during the peak of Covid and getting to play together. Unfortunately those bonds carried over once school started and she found herself left out. Been fun untangling that mental mess. She’s too young to be following her parents down the “people are azzhats” philosophy but such is life.

It will be interesting to see how the kids remember the past twelve months when they are grown.

Dude, you are lucky. My kids have been in school for maybe 8 weeks and we get about one email a week from the high school about someone being exposed. Glad your situation was better.

Fortnite…ugh, don’t get me started. My son plays that a ton.

Fortnite puttered out after being kicked off iOS platform. I don't have my PS4 where he can get on it easily so that's probably a blessing.

We started playing sports through the YMCA again. Spring Soccer just finished up and T-Ball starts tomorrow for the youngest. Oldest started up Jiu Jitsu but is already over it, mainly because the teacher is going too fast for him to pick anything up. He doesn't seem interested in trying TKD. :(

It’s all about your oil. Gotta use Tony’s Magic K 20w50. Put two additional quarts in otherwise the sum runs dry and you blow the turbos. It’s all ball bearings these days…

Yeah, me too. I just noticed there are two airboxes in that bay. Nuts. I had the Ecoboost in my Ford and it was never short of air. More air needs more fuel…which means more BOOOOOOOSSSTT!

Pretty interesting. A few more horses and more torque. I assume the truck will lose some weight with the engine getting smaller and possible changing some body panels to aluminum. Should help with the payload issue.

So to get acceptable gas mileage with all that extra Booooooosstt!, will it do that thing where the engine shuts off when you are stopped at a red light?

Haha… glad you caught the reference!

Guaranteed if there is a hybrid version, but I bet start/stop will be included no matter what. Everyone seems to be going that way now.

Does anyone know if the LC motor is poet or direct injection (or both)?

Took the rest of the week off. Hooking up the trailer tomorrow for a couple nights at the beach. Working to complete the power tailgate lock before it gets too hot.

Auto start/stop should be able to be disabled.

I can’t stand it in my Raptor, unless I’m in Sport mode it’s enabled and I have to remember to disable it with a press of a button. So I just always leave it in Sport mode, not a huge deal but can be annoying at times.

Who knows what logic Toyota will use. They’ve proven to be quite inept when it comes to using logic when designing a system.

Got the tailgate lock finished and went ahead and finished wiring my lights for my tow mirrors. Easy, except the feeling of dread while cutting into the wiring of a new truck. Thanks to @RainMan_PNW for the help with wiring diagram interpretation, I was able to locate the right wire in the dash. These are the low power flood lights that I have tied to the interior lights so they come on with either the door switch or the cargo light switch. Still need to repaint the mirror caps since the previous paint was a very poor color match but that will wait for another day.

Nice thing about the mirror caps is that they are far enough from the rest of the truck that perfect color match isn't entirely necessary.

Yes, true. However, I got lazy and bought silver Duplicolor Toyota paint at Autozone. It’s a poor match so I ordered and have in the garage paint from Automotivetouchup.com that matches the color code for my truck. Should be pretty easy to wet sand them and hit them with a few coats next weekend.

Here is a picture of the current silver. Too much yellow in it.

I’m super jelly of those tow mirrors. Didn’t know about them when I bought mine. Went with OEM because all the stuff guys were buying online vibrated.
