Dealer is recommending this service at 15k miles? Can anyone shed light on this for me? What is it and should I do it? My gut tells me it is probably unnecessary, but my gut is unreliable at best...thx!

Not familiar but sounds like an "upcharge" type of thing. Something that makes them $$$ and probably not necessary.

Probably just a spray into intake, possibly a MAF sensor clean.

Free? Sure. Maybe pay $10-20, not $60-80

From what I can tell it is just a fuel injector clean? And they want $170 for it.

I would decline at that mileage. Doubtful you would notice a difference. Research for future, probably DIY as well.

At 15,000 miles I seriously doubt your vehicle needs anything. If you want a preventative treatment use BG 44K for about 10 to 20 bucks per bottle. That’s what most dealers use. If you have a clogging injector this stuff works really well to clean intakes, injectors, valves etc.

BG44k is amazing stuff...you will/can notice it immediately and it's a good preventative measure every other oil change or at least twice per year...especially using winter fuels, etc...I use this stuff on my Audis and it helps a lot keeping the intake/fuel systems clean...

It's a waste of money and Toyota does not recommend it shortens the life of the converters

I'm new into the Tundra game...but it IS recommended on Audis (I understand that's apples and oranges right now) past certain mileage intervals...that's my experience with it...it works well and does indeed clean injectors well and helps in keeping the intake manifold/heads clean from deposits...

I worked at a multi car complex and all used BG products. I also worked at two toyota dealers and both used BG products. Honda had service bulletins recommending their products. I live on the east cost so maybe it more a local thing but not with Honda cause of the national bulletins. I’ve used it on an injector miss on my Accord and within one day it was gone.
Inclosed is an advertisement about their product.

Don’t do it. I fail to see after that little bit of mileage you would need that kind of service. The only thing I did for my truck was run some sea foam in the fuel and that was because I was using it on other cars and poured the rest in the truck. Hit that skinny pedal down a little harder some more it’ll clean out lol

Just extra $ for dealership not necessary the fuel you are running has up to 10% alcohol I worked at dealership years ago we would rotate tires for free just to sell brake jobs

I always go to the maintenance manual to see what it recommends. When a company says “you need this!” I show them the maintenance schedule and I say “no I don’t!”

Toyota gives you the recommended preventative maintenance in your owners manual. Follow that. Tell dealer to suck it on extras unless you have a specific problem you are trying to fix.
