So, this morning I parked my truck in my level garage and disconnected the negative battery terminal. I did this as lately my HVAC is no longer remembering my settings from the previous shutdown (it stopped remembering i selected defrost is the issue. Always turns on with face/feet selected now for some reason...).

Anyways, I did this expecting to see my fuel gauge reset to lower than it was as that is a common issue with my Tundra (and for many others, obviously). My driveway is sloped and i park nose up a lot.

Well, I was surprised to see I GAINED fuel after this reset. I went from a quarter of a tank (maybe even a hair under) before pulling the negative terminal to almost half way between a quarter and a half tank showing. I dont think this version of our gas gauge issue is common or ever really documented?

The only thing I have been doing differently is actually parking nose down more than nose up. I got tired of the fuel gauge resetting higher than it actually should be so thats why I switched up how i was parking. Apparently, parking nose down a lot causes fuel gauge issues as well except the gauge ends up showing less fuel than you actually have.

Just wanted to post this to see if others have seen both incorrect readings or not.

Did disconnecting the battery solve the HVAC memory problem?

I’ll be confirming that here in a bit when I head back out. Seeing the fuel gauge reset higher caused me to forget to check the HVAC…

It did not. Neither the defrost nor the back window/mirror defrost was remembered. Not sure if the window one should remember or not but the HVAC should…

I'm pretty sure if you turn Auto AC off in the Climate settings on the multimedia screen, your truck will save the last HVAC settings.

I tried it - it saves the temp and ac on/off, but if you leave the front or rear defrost on, it doesn’t save that.

Well, that sucks. My truck is rarely parked outside during the winter, so I rarely need the defrosters. For some reason I thought the HVAC system, in Auto mode, detects frost on the windshield and directs the heat to it. Apparently not.

Yeah, that’s been off since day one for me. Double checked it this morning as well.

Well, guess I must be crazy then. I thought it used to save defrost mode as well. It was close to freezing this morning so defrost was needed. Bummer

If you remote start and it’s cold, it turns on front and rear defrosters

It was close to freezing yesterday and below freezing today and it didnt do it for me. I thought it used to remember full defrost up until a few weeks ago, but I guess not.

It does remember defrost/feet so at least i get some defrost from remote start still.
