    (I know it's Facebook, sorry)

    What do you think? The correct mileage, confirmed by the seller, is 115,000. Is he asking too much? Anything I should look out for? What could I check with a walk around and how could I do it?

    Thanks for your suggestions!

    doesn’t seem too bad with some of the used trucks I’ve seen.

    you going to look at it. Hear it running, drive it, any rust?

    Check the frame. That’s the most important thing. Price is fine. RC w dark interior will make @empty_lord jealous. Anything on the carfax?

    I asked @empty_lord on Tacomas.

    I don't know how to get a CarFax without paying for it.
    Why do you say it isn't an '05?

    @shifty` for comments.

    wheels obviously not OEM but I have mine if you care and want 16’s.

    I think ‘05 didn’t have those fender flares? But not sure. The grille is for sure newer than ‘02. I suspect it should have the button for 1st gear?

    But I don’t know when the 5speed began. Maybe 2005. Vin will tell you.

    worth paying for the carfax. $30 well spent. The RC is rare.

    I’m way less aware than many but based on the center console, grille and taillights I suspect 2003.

    RC = no baby making.

    Dan, ‘04 was still 4 speed?

    Rahl, you could make some good money just parting out the interior.

    Also, I have my old seat cloth if you buy this thing and want it.

    Ask for photos under the skirt. Especially the crossmembers. And vin to verify year. I’m not bothered by that one, probably a misinformed owner rather than deception.

    It would be for a DD, we have a Highlander for family trips.

    All, is $8k really a fair price if the frame and ball joints are OK? Seems a bit much for a '03-'05

    It depends. The frame recall is limited by year and if the frame is bad it’s a part out or needs a frame and overpriced. If the frame is good or eligible for a swap then you could be set, though you may need to gamble if it’s a clear frame replacement candidate. There is a thread on the subject. An excellent one.

    I ran my ‘02 RC as a daily from 2002-2006 when I bought a Corolla. It’s not an ideal daily. With a RC you have to get a shell (difficult to find one) or you are super limited on interior gear and it’s annoying to schlep bags in/out on passenger seat.

    Also the turn radius sucks more than the Tacoma though it’s similar in size. I found parking lots annoying for that reason. Open highway is great. It’s a fantastic second vehicle.

    Very rare. And I would gladly outbid any price empty lord gives just to one up him. Dark B pillars are pretty difficult to source as are the light grey I have.

    But, we are being a little hyperbolic on the interior. It’s not $8k of plastic. $2-3k absolute tops.

    But in case you can’t tell, I’m excited you might join us. Strong buy from me if frame is clean. Inspect throughly though. Lots of experts on that subject. Post if this progresses and I’ll call in all the others to comb over photos.

    So, I should offer $5-6k for it?

    Also, should I take a hammer to test the frame?

    If you’re serious, let’s get some others involved.
    @Tundra2 @NickB_01TRD @Sirfive @alb1k

    If the frame is good and carfax clean, I’d say 8 is even a decent deal. But I like to overpay for stuff.

    hammer if he lets you but hands and eyes should be good. Bring a good light.

    If the timing belt, ball joints and frame are fresh it’s an 8k truck. If the ball joints are not oem I’d replace them right away. Timing belt is a MUST. Realistically I’d pay 6-7 if it’s a solid truck.

    And Rahl, keep in mind that Dan has a lot of access to vehicles and a full quiver in his driveway. I figure his price targets are $1k less than mine. Cali is always a bit more too. But Ohio is where I’m worried frame-wise. The carfax will tell you where it’s lived. You can probably find another truck in this general price range if you’re not overly interested in that color exterior and interior in a RC.

    My dealer was running a deal on TB and that only cost me about $500. Carfax will tell you that one too. Most likely hasn’t been replaced for that kind of mileage. You can use that to chip away at the price but it’s not overpriced so it may not last long.

    If it was used for heavy work that could be something that bothers you. The interior and exterior give me an impression of light work rather than heavy.

    TB should be replaced at 90k or 9 years? But lots of trucks make it way more on the original. I don’t believe mine was done (bought back in August with 158k) since I sold it with 90 ish. I wouldn’t stress about it, use the info to chip at price but it’s not an imminent potential failure based on mileage alone. Just the first thing to do because if it goes the engine is toast.
